Continuing its transition from performance to lifestyle, adidas launch the Ultraboost S&L in “Light Granite”, updating the Ultraboost legacy for a brand new on-foot feeling and a style that’s even more suited to the sneaker heads out there.

The Ultraboost was originally marketed as a running shoe, but thanks to the extreme levels of comfort offered up by the chunky Boost midsole and prime knit upper, combined with a variety of colourways, it quickly transitioned into lifestyle circles. The S&L variation was then developed to continue the Ultraboost legacy, solidly branching it off into a style staple. Gone is the Prime knit upper, replaced by a mesh panelling with some classic-feeling suede overlays. It’s a hybrid design that retains the original UB’s speedy shape but adds a casual-wear aesthetic, and now it’s available in a new  “Light Granite” colourway.

While we've seen some far more vibrant colours for the Ultraboost 20 recently, the S&L model keeps thinks far more understated. Supple grey suede mudguards and heel clips sit atop a light grey base that’s made of two meshes: tightly woven in the forefoot, jersey-style on the throat and heel. There’s even more of a departure from performance in the construction, as the midfoot cage is traded out its standard TPU construction in favour of a suede build, equipped with leather stripes. It’s a neutral colouring that’s easy on the eye, and the only burst of vibrance is reserved for the bright orange insole.
