To commemorate the fifth anniversary of their first adidas UltraBoost, Parley have reworked the sneaker, launching their their signature recycled ocean plastics in a bold new style, presented in two fresh colourways.

The UltraBoost was originally designed as a performance shoe, but due to its versatility and comfort it has slowly but surely edged its way into lifestyle circles. And that’s where the UltraBoost DNA fits in, taking position as a dedicated day-to-day stepper within the UB ranks, following the Uncaged line in removing the mid foot support. It’s a silhouette that’s open to interpretation; free from the confines and restrictions of performance it becomes a solid street wear accessory, as seen with the recent duo that was released in celebration of the iconic Superstar sneaker. And now Parley, celebrating the 5th anniversary of its first UltraBoost trainer (although going a little early by our calculations), use this space to create.

Parley for the Oceans sees products made from up-cycled from marine plastic waste. The original UltraBOOST Uncaged Parley, released in November 2016, was the first mass production footwear to be created using Parley Ocean Plastic. They featured a knitted upper made from a mix of Ocean Plastic (95%) and recycled polyester (5%); the rest of the upper – laces, heel cap base material, heel webbing, heel lining and the sock-liner cover – was also made of recycled materials. And the new UltraBoost DNA Parley follow suit, paying homage to the OG by taking the same wavy design that featured on the heel cup and extending it across the entire upper of both “Cloud White” and “Core Black” colourways.

The Three Stripes branding takes on a minimalistic feel, embroidered under the surface, and the only other branding is located on the tongue, while the Parley callout is reserved for the insole. It serves to ensure the focus remains on the sleek outer design, which sees the Primeknit upper constructed from Primeblue; a material that features Parley Ocean Plastic, made from recycled waste, intercepted from beaches and coastal communities before it reaches the ocean. And it comes riding in on that signature Boost outsole for the most recognisable of sign-offs.

Both colourways of the UltraBoost DNA Parley trainers will be available on 8 June at adidas.co.uk
