Gazelle-Inspired Football Boot Heralds Latest Blondey x adidas Collaboration

British skateboarder, designer, artist and regular adidas collaborator Blondey McCoy has revealed a special one-off adidas football boot ahead of the reveal of his third and final iteration of the A.B. Gazelle Indoors.

London native, Blondey recently took to his Instagram to reveal a special pair of football boots that are inspired by his collaborative Blondey x adidas Gazelle A.B. silhouette series — the designer’s reinterpretation of the classic indoor football shoe released in 2022. The boot was a tantalising preview of what to expect from the imminent release of the third and final version of the Gazelle A.B, which has now been revealed.

Mine might be the last generation of skateboarders to whom football felt off-limits,” Blondey wrote. “And when I say off-limits, I mean like the polar opposite, along with just about everything else deemed properly popular. It seemed to me that if you skated, that was all you did. That and make art, maybe. Anyway, this, I suppose, is why I think skaters wearing the type of gear that typically belongs to the masses can be, ironically, so interesting. Empowering even.

This position of mine is evidenced in my career at adidas, and indeed by the very fact that it’s adidas I sought a career with — as opposed to, say, Vans,” he continued. “First, we made basketball shoes together. Then came indoor football shoes. And it’s the imminent release of the third and final official version of these that’s prompted this post.

The A.B. GEMINI arrives in a black, off white, and green colourway, with striped laces and gold “BLONDEY” branding along the lateral stripes. Of course, for the sneaker the studded soleplate is switched out for rubber soles designed for both small-sided football and skateboarding, providing the perfect blend of both worlds.

The Blondey x adidas A.B. GEMINI will be available on the THAMES MMXX webstore on 21 April at 11 BST, and on adidas.co.uk a day later on 22 April.
