adidas Launch The Predator XLG In Two Monochrome Colourways

Fully merging the worlds of performance and lifestyle, adidas have launched the Predator XLG trainer, combining the Accelerator upper aesthetics with some chunky underfoot tooling.

The adidas Predator is iconic in pretty much whichever guise it has taken on from the late 90s through the early 00s. Its visually striking look is unmistakeable, and arguably its most recognisable look was the Accelerator. Now, the Accelerator upper has been transplanted onto a chunky outsole for the Predator XLG, which Adidas launch in two inverted colour options of “Core Black / Cloud White / Core Black” and “Cloud White / Core Black / Cloud White”.

Of course, this is not the first time those signature wavy Accelerator Three Stripes have made their way on to a lifestyle sneaker, with the Sobakov Boost borrowing them back in 2019 to great effect. But while it was only the branding that came across on that occasion, for the Predator XLG we get the Three Stripes and the rubber elements, giving off more of a turf-trainer vibe. The puffy tongue (not a fold over!) and outsole confirm that it’s not a turf shoe though, offering the comfort expected from a standard sneaker. It should also be noted that it’s a synthetic leather upper – not the premium leather used for the OG Predator Accelerator back in 1998. Still, looks the part in both colour options.
