adidas To Release A 'Messi' Samba

Looks like adidas are set to once again pay homage to their GOAT, Lionel Messi, by releasing a couple of special pairs of signature Sambas, dedicated to the Argentinian.

Lionel Messi is no stranger to a signature pair of boots, with adidas having bestowed plenty of pairs upon the forward in his time. But signature sneakers have been a bit more rare, although, like a buses, you wait for ages for one and two come along at once, with the Three Stripes set to drop a pair of Sambas dedicated to Messi in the very near future.

Sure, there’s been plenty of small-sided variations of his boots, but they don’t really count. You have to go back to 2012 to see the last time the iconic Samba rode in with Messi’s signature logo on board, arriving on a pair that were specially crafted by adidas Originals designer Vincent Etcheverry under the guidance of Markus Thaler. But now it looks as though there’s going to be not one, but two Messi Sambas for a wider release.

the first pair is a simple affair, combining a white leather base and grey suede overlays with a gum sole and purple on the Three Stripes and heel. The typical “SAMBA” text is present, with Messi’s logo appearing in neon green on the tongue.

The second pair again offers a white leather base, and from there, blue laces match the tongue, lining and Three Stripes while gold hits the heel and “MESSI” text above the Three Stripes. Another callout to the Argentine legend comes courtesy of his logo debossed at the lateral heel and present at the tongue.

No word on a release date for the adidas Samba 'Messi' (or if they're even legit), but watch this space.
