adidas Skateboarding Present Minnesota United x Familia Capsule

Crossing borders to combine worlds, Adidas Skateboarding have presented a unique and unexpected collaboration, bringing Familia Skateshop and Minnesota United FC together for a capsule collection.

The world’s of football and skating have crossed before, and it’s a far more regular occurrence Stateside. The links between the two sports are most apparent in the footwear, with skaters often favouring the football-inspired Gazelles or Sambas, with their gum-rubber outsole providing the perfect traction on the deck. Doesn’t hurt that they look pretty good too. And so it’s here that the latest football x Skateboarding foray brings us, with adidas Skateboarding presenting a collaboration with Familia Skateshop and Minnesota United FC.

Minnesota skate brand Familia has an indoor skate park that is said to be one of the best in the Northern United States. It’s an integral part of what is a thriving skate scene in the region, and so this collaboration feels like a natural fit. The highlight of the drop is the Gazelle ADV, a skate version of the classic silhouette, which arrives in club colours with nubuck and suede detailing. Debossed “MNUFC” and “Familia” lettering sit on the right and left shoes respectively, running parallel to the traditionally positioned white Three Stripes. A ribbed white tongue is topped with a Trefoil logo in black, and that’s joined by a black leather heel tab featuring the stylised Familia branding. The insoles then feature dual Familia and adidas branding.

The shoe is accompanied by a longsleeve shirt, inspired by the 2014 Skate Copa, boasting a heavy waffle jersey, contemporary paneling, and the loon logo, and a collaborative skate deck, featuring dual branding.
