SoccerBible Gospels: Vote For Your Power Boot of the Season 08/09

SoccerBible Gospels: Vote For Your Power Boot of the Season 08/09

Over 200 countries are voting in this year's Gospels... One World, One Game.

Power Boot Winner: adidas Predator Rome Edition

The adidas Predator Rome and Nike white/blue Lasers battled it out right til the last, but in the end it was the Predator Rome which just edged the voting.

The Rome collection was designed by adidas to celebrate the 2009 Champions League final, and upon release were instantly seen being worn by Robin Van Persie and Dimitar Berbatov. Incorporating all the technology of the adidas Predator PowerSwerve football boots, the Rome Editions feature a soft leather upper with SmartFoam technology, and a PowerPulse tungsten powder chamber to give this boot increased ball spin for accuracy and power.

Power Boot Runner-Up: Nike T9 Laser II White/Black/Blue

A very sharp looking colourway, the white/black/blue Nike Laser football boots have been worn by a host of Premier League players covering all positions over the football pitch. Featuring Nike's unique ShotSheld technology and an innovative sole-plate in the firm ground version, the Laser football boots were also extremely popular because of their comfort.

After the success of the Nike T90 Laser II football boots was established, Nike set about releasing a variety of colourways, and the popularity of the white/black/blue Lasers saw the boot finish runner-up.

Power Boot 3rd Place: adidas Predator ClimaCool DB

When David Beckham joined AC Milan under a media cloud it was the perfect time for adidas to introduce their most unique Predator football boots to date. Incorporating the high standard of technology you'd expect with an adidas Predator football boot, but with re-designed vamp area for increased ball spin and a ClimaCool upper. The ClimaCool ® technology of the new upper scavenges slow moving air surrounding the boots and channels it to cool the foot.

The unique upper of the adidas Predator ClimaCool football boots impressed you enough to claim an impressive 3rd place.

Power Boot 4th Place: Nike T90 Laser II Red/Silver/Red

The varsity red Nike T90 Laser II football boots were a popular choice for both Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney of Manchester United and England. Nike have developed an innovative ShotShield which increases passing and shooting power and accuracy. This is done through more dense material and precision rings emanating from the optimum contact area where you strike the ball.

Nike have developed a lot of technology for the Nike T90 Laser II football boots, so it was another respectable outing as the all red colourway came in 4th.

Power Boot 5th Place: Mizuno Wave Shinken II Pearl/Claret

Mizuno football boots are made to a high standard, and the Wave Shinken II football boots combine quality with innovation. The soft leather upper incorporates unique 'bio-panels' across the in-step to increase ball spin, control and power by providing a superior boot-to-ball contact surface.

Mizuno don't have the player endorsements of larger brands, but a popular choice amongst the lower level football leagues could have contributed to the Shinken being voted in at 5th.

Power Boot 6th Place: Puma v-Konstrukt III Black/White/Gold

One of the most interesting Power football boots on the market, both the design and technology of the Puma v-Konstrukt III football boots is striking. Worn by both Nemanja Vidic and Shay Given, these boots deliver in strength and support which is why they have been popular with defenders. Made from a variety of natural and synthetic materials, the striking area is ribbed for a more aggressive ball contact, and DuoCell technology in the heel improves comfort, support and shock absorption.

Designed for power, comfort and protection, the Puma v-Konstrukt III football boots finished 6th.

Power Boot 7th Place: Umbro SX Valor II Ultra

Perhaps the boldest football boots Umbro have ever produced, this boot has an all-over design which provides an aggressive ball contact to generate extra power. The upper is covered with a synthetic sleek-black textured surface, and is one of the more subtle looking boots in our power category.

These football boots received the backing of Chelsea and Portugal playmaker Deco, and enough votes to claim 7th place.

Power Boot 8th Place: Reebok Valde Pro Black/Yellow/Red

This power category has thrown up some unique football boot designs and innovations, and the Valde Pro football boots are Reebok's visually striking contribution. Worn by legendary striker Andrei Shevchenko, the StrikeZone of the Valde Pro feature a unique combination of raised synthetic materials, a print application and kangaroo leather combined to increase power.

Was the unique design and bold heel counter of the Reebok Valde Pro football boots not to everyones liking as they finished in last place.
