- Brazilian midfielder Elano could move on a season-long loan to German club Cologne or Inter Milan, after being told not to join the club's pre-season tour of South Africa. (The Independent)

- Everton defender Joleon Lescott will plead with David Moyes to allow him to speak to Manchester City over a move, if City make an expected improved £18million offer for the England international.  (The Times)
