Football Talk - Fabregas and Eboue turn on Adebayor - 18/09/09

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas believes Manchester City's Emmanuel Adebayor should have been sent off for a foul on him during last Saturday's encounter. Adebayor has been banned for three games for violent conduct after a clash with ex-Gunners team-mate Robin van Persie in City's 4-2 win on Saturday.

And Fabregas, who was caught earlier in the game by Adebayor in an incident that was overlooked amid the Van Persie furore, said: "I think this is a red card. I was lucky my foot was in the air. You know this is football and it can happen.

"All I tried to do when he was at Arsenal was to create opportunities for him to score. So I think I didn't do too bad for him. It is a bit strange. It is football and we don't think about him any more. He doesn't play for Arsenal and we just have to concentrate on our game and our play."

Another former colleagues to turn on Adebayor, is Emmanuel Eboue - who has welcomed his three-match ban. "He didn't do well because you have a lot of young people who watch the game and they see that and it's no good for football.

"But I am very, very happy because the FA have given him a three-game ban (for the Van Persie stamp). I know him and I think he will think about that and he will take it on board and now will try to play his game. What he did was no good for football. I am very disappointed about it, very disappointed. When he was in our team we did everything together and so we don't know what happened."
