Football Boots - Premier League Boot Spotting! - 03/11/09

It was a busy week for our SoccerBible boot spotters, not just spotting the new Predator X football boots, our eagle-eyed boot spotters were also keeping a keen eye out for the top performing football boots, and any players with an interesting boot choice...

DIMITAR BERBATOV

adidas Predator X football boots

Obviously, in a Premier League boot spotting we have to acknowledge the debut of the adidas Predator X football boots. And it was Dimitar Berbatov who gave these new football boots the best introduction, as he scored a great goal for Manchester United. Berbatov is a big fan of the traditional black/red Predator colourway, which he wore as he controlled and turned and struck the ball off the new Predator elements.

BOBBY ZAMORA

Under Armour Dominate football boots

Another new football boot on show was the white/red Under Armour Dominate. This was the Under Armour boots' second Premier League weekend, but after failing to score on their debut Bobby Zamora made sure he was more clinical in front of goal, scoring the opening goal against Liverpool.

CESC FABREGAS

Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots

We'd love to feature another player for the CTR360 football boots, but there is no denying that since Cesc Fabegas has worn the new Nike football boots he has been in awesome form! Fabregas was the sharpest player on the pitch scoring Arsenal's second goal, capitalising on some sloppy Spurs play as he raced through the team to score straight from Tottenham's kick-off after Arsenal's first goal!

GRAHAM ALEXANDER

adidas Copa Mundial football boots

There's an old saying "If something's not broken, it doesn't need fixing", and this certainly proved the case with the adidas Copa Mundial football boots this week. The Copa Mundial is a classic football boot, which lists quality, craftsmanship and performance as its key attributes. Worn by Burnley's Graham Alexander, with a mixed sole-plate, he not only struck from the penalty spot, but smashed the ball in from 25 yards out!

DINIYAR BILYALETDINOV

Puma King XL football boots

Signed as an unknown quantity, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov is proving to be a quality addition to the Everton squad due to his attacking capabilities. A Puma King is an interesting choice for a winger, but as he proved at the weekend by scoring, they give him a good touch and feel for the ball. And there's no doubting Bilyaletdinov's commitment to the Everton cause, as we saw with his challenge that resulted in a red card!

JOHN PANTSIL

adidas Predator PowerSwerve football boots

One of the most interesting boot choices of the weekend, Fulham's John Pantsil has been wearing red Predator PowerSwerves for a while now. But, they aren't the red colourway (shown below) that were released to the public, as Pantsil has been using adidas' miadidas customisation service to give his boots a unique look, incorporating a yellow colour scheme on both the tongue and heel areas.

JOE COLE

Nike Tiempo Legend III football boots

Joe Cole was playing his second Premier League game since returning from a lengthy injury lay-off, but you'd never have thought it! The creative midfielder has been in great form since returning, but at the SoccerBible we're particularly interested in Cole's boot choice. He seems to be comfortable in the Legend III football boots, but we suspect it's only a matter of time before we see Joe in the Nike CTR360 football boots, making the switch like Cesc Fabregas and James Milner.

JAMES BEATTIE

Puma v1.10 football boots

Beattie has quite easily made the transition from wearing the red Puma v1.08 football boots into the red Puma v1.10 football boots. The new v1.10's aren't just a speed boot, because James Beattie is a real grafter in the Stoke side who gets up and down the pitch, and it was his persistence that led to the Wolves defender putting the ball into the back of his own net.

DECO

Umbro Speciali football boots

The new Umbro Speciali football boots are making quite an impression in the Premier League this season, which was further demonstrated by Deco as he scored an excellent goal. Deco clearly benefits from confident touch and feel for the ball, as he received the ball in the Bolton defence and had the composure to turn, taking the defender out of the equation, before curling the ball home.

WAYNE ROUTLEDGE

Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots

Okay, so we know this isn't Premier League but Wayne Routledge has been catching our eye lately. The tricky and pacey forward featured in last week's boot spotting, because as far as we know he was the first player to wear the new green adidas F50i colourway. So imagine our surprise when we saw Wayne playing for QPR this week wearing the Nike CTR360 football boots!

Kudos this week goes to SoccerBible Community Boot Spotters ARABCR7 and BALAROONEY. If you've seen anything that belongs on this page, mail us at u2us@soccerbible.com putting 'Boot Spotting' in the subject field.
