Werder Bremen drew with Cologne, and therefore failed to capitalise on Bayer Leverkusen's 0-0 draw with Hannover 96. This gave the chasing teams the chance to catch-up, and Schalke capitalised by defeating Hertha Berlin 2-0, and Bayern Munich also did by defeating Borussia Monchengladbach 2-1, with midfielder Badstuber on the scoresheet.
