Every week the SoccerBible rounds-up the best European domestic action, football boots on show and the star performers.

In Spain both Real Madrid and Barcelona were victorious, as were Bayer Leverkusen in Germany to just keep ahead of Bayern Munich. Elsewhere, Auxerre extended their unbeaten run to seven games, and despite marginally closing the gap Milan failed to capitalise on Inter Milan not playing.
     
     

     

                                             

Barcelona maintained their five-point lead over rivals Real Madrid, as both team recorded victories this weekend. Barca were 1-0 winners at Sporting Gijon thanks to Pedro's goal, while a brace from Karim Benzema helped Real defeat Deportivo La Coruna 3-1.
             
Sevilla climbed to fourth place in the table with a close fought 2-1 victory over third-placed Valencia, thanks to two goals from Alvaro Negredo.

Bayern Munich notched up seven consecutive victories, as they beat Mainz 3-0 with all their goals scored in the second half from van Buyten, Gomez and Robben. But Bayer Leverkusen reclaimed first-place beating Freiburg 3-1 at home.
             
The most action packed game of the weekend saw Borussia Monchengladbach edge a seven-goal cracker against out-of-form Werder Bremen, while Stuttgart recorded a late 4-1 success against fourth-placed Borussia Dortmund.

Inter Milan's weekend match was postponed due to the snow, but AC Milan failed to take full advantage, as they could only manage a 1-1 stalemate with Livorno at San Siro with Ambrosini opening the scoring for the Milan giants.
             
Elsewhere, Stefano Okaka signed off for Roma with a 90th minute winning strike against Siena, before departing to join Fulham on loan. Whilst Juventus continue to stutter, as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home against 15th placed Lazio.

League leaders Bordeaux slipped up against relegation threatened Boulogne, as they were unable to break the deadlock and the game ended in a 0-0 draw. A result which allowed Montpellier to gain some ground after they defeated Marseille.
             
Auxerre extended their impressive unbeaten run to seven games with a 1-0 victory over St Etienne, whilst Lille returned to winning ways with a 1-0 triumph against Lens.Monaco battled to a 3-2 victory over Nice, and a late goal from Cris ensured Lyon defeated 10-man Paris St Germain.
