Football News - Rooney and T90 steal the show! - 17/02/10

It was billed as a showdown between Beckham and Manchester United, the old versus the new, adidas versus Nike. But on the night there was only one winner - Wayne Rooney.

Manchester United: a Nike football club, and Wayne Rooney, a Nike player arrived at the San Siro to face AC Milan - an adidas club with David Beckham an adidas player. The stage was set for an epic battle...

1-0 First blood went to AC Milan and David Beckham, who's dangerous cross led to a poor clearance falling to the feet of Ronaldinho, who hit the back of the net. Interestingly, Beckham had changed back into his PowerSwerve Beckham ClimaCool football boots, which sported a huge AC Milan badge embroided onto the tongue.

1-1 Ronaldinho was in impressive form, after changing back into Nike Legend III football boots after wearing his Dois boots at the weekend. But Milan were wasteful in front of goal, and United capitalised through T90 Laser II wearer Scholes who struck a fortunate goal off his shin!

1-3 Rooney began to impress, his work-rate and ability wearing the new Nike T90 Laser III football boots was awesome. He was in devastating form ghosting past defenders, and it was only a matter of time before Rooney scored. Which he did on both the 66th and 74th minutes, striking two killer blows and taking Nike's goal tally for the evening onto 4!

2-3 AC Milan and adidas struck back and grabbed a consolation goal, which could yet prove vital in the second leg. Seedorf was wearing the very popular gold adiPure III football boots, and in the 85th minute his cheeky flick steered the ball into the back of the net.

Wayne Rooney is undoubtedly the in-form player in world football, and we don't think it's a coincidence he's wearing a football boot he helped to design. The Nike T90 Laser III is customised for Rooney's game, and he is certainly getting the best out of them! Unfortunately for adidas and AC Milan this was definitely Manchester United and Nike's night!
