Check out this concept football boot recently displayed at the Umbro design studio in Manchester, a wild fusion of art and football. This Umbro boot has a radical design, but could it work and would you wear them?!
The design of this football boot came from the Royal College of Art, who were displaying some of the ideas they came up with for a project developed in conjunction with Umbro. Umbro asked students at the College to come up with ideas based around sport, technology and Britishness, and the results were understandably varied.
These ideas are a long way from the football boots, shirts and sportswear that Umbro put onto the pitch, but there are some links between the two. And whether it s football boots produced using the same technique as that which goes into making cars, or jumpers that make it easier to explain the offside rule, this collection from the RCA underlines just how much football is ingrained into our culture.
