SoccerBible World Cup Update - 11/06/10

The wait is over... it's finally here! Excitement has been building around the globe for the greatest show in football, as the 2010 FIFA World Cup plays host to the best footballers on the planet...

At the SoccerBIble we've been excited for some time now and we can't wait till kick off, this is a football tournament we're really going to enjoy! So stay tuned to the SoccerBible thoughout the tournament, as we bring you World Cup updates, star players and performances, the latest boot spotting and the must watch games, along with a host of other cool features!

Opening Match - South Africa vs Mexico

Throughout the World Cup we'll be picking our must watch 'game of the day' for SoccerBible fans to discuss, and on the opening day of the World Cup it could only be South Africa versus Mexico.

The South Africans have been waiting years for this game to finally kick-off, and when it does you can be sure it will be to a chorus of Vuvuzelas. The South African team will be cheered on by their enthusiastic fans as skillful midfielder Steven Pienaar orchestrates the midfield, and captain Aaron Mokoena marshals the defence. Creative midfielder Pienaar will also be giving the brand new adidas adiZero football boots their World Cup debut, so we will be keenly watching to see how the boots perform.

Mexico have the likes of Vela, Dos Santos and Guardado in their attacking line-up, who could well upset the South African carnival atmosphere. The trio pose a real attacking threat, spearheaded by Carlos Vela who will be playing in the Nike Elite Superfly II football boots, part of the Nike Elite World Cup pack that are being worn by a host of star players.

Who will be victorious on the opening day of the World Cup? Football romantics will want the host nation South Africa to win, but on paper it could be argued Mexico have the stronger side... we'd want to hear your opinions...
