SoccerBible World Cup Update - 21/06/10

On day 11 of the World Cup, Brazilian coach Dunga describes the sending off of Kaka as "unjustified", and Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal hammer North Korea 7-0!

After an eventful weekend of World Cup action, Brazil coach Dunga was left very unhappy with the sending off of star midfielder Kaka. "It was a totally unjustified dismissal of Kaka, he was fouled and yet he was punished. I must actually congratulate that Ivory Coast player!"



Whilst back on the pitch, Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal were in emphatic form to defeat North Korea. At half-time the scoreline was a modest 1-0, but in the second half Portugal found another gear and the North Koreans were unable to cope. The most entertaining of the goals came from Cristiano Ronaldo, who came out of a one-on-one tackle with the goalkeeper carrying the ball on his neck, before knocking it into the goal!

Rommedahl showed a great turn of pace to beat the Cameroon defence, before smashing the ball into the far corner. A unique boot choice, Rommedahl was playing in Hummel football boots, as recently featured on the SoccerBible.	The popularity of the adiZero football boots continues to grow, as yet another player switches into the new adidas speed boot. Once again proving defenders can wear the adiZero, Lucio has changed out of Predators.

Kaka is wearing an interesting hybrid boot, with a unique sole-plate and heel counter. Kaka is an adiPure wearer, but for the South Africa pitches he has requested rounded studs, and also the heel counter is less pronounced.	Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar is sporting a cool looking pair of blacked-out Mizuno Morelia football boots. We had to have a close look, but could tell from the white/red sole-plate and the heel and collar design that Cesar was wearing Morelia's.

 

Fabiano inspired the move that led to his goal by flicking the ball to Kaka, who breached the Ivory Coast defence before placing a perfect through ball for Fabiano. The angle was tight, with only one place the Brazilian striker could put the ball, and he absolutely smashed it into the back of the net!

Spain v Honduras (Group H)

Most people's tournament favourites Spain, currently sit bottom of Group H after defeat in their opening game against Switzerland. So, a game against Honduras could be just what the European Champions need to inspire confidence and a good performance. However, Honduras have already shown they are no pushover, and can be inspired by the performances of such nations as New Zealand, which makes this Group H match our must watch game of the day.

A fit again Fernando Torres is sure to be included in the Spanish starting XI, as they were wasteful with their chances against Switzerland. Torres will be playing in the Nike Elite T90 Laser III football boots, although it seems Torres is playing in a leather upper.



Combative midfielder Wilson Palacios will be charged with playing the same role he does for Tottenham Hotspur, which is to disrupt the opposition's play. The work-rate and performance of Palacios, who will be playing in Umbro Speciali football boots, will be key to whether the Spanish can settle.
