SoccerBible World Cup Update - 28/06/10
Over the weekend we were treated to some impressive performances and some atrocious refereeing decisions! But on day 17 of the World Cup, we're looking forward to watching some great football, with both the Dutch and the Brazilians in action.
Also at the World Cup, Uruguay and Ghana progressed with two very close and hard fought victories. But it was two powerhouses of world football that caught the eye, and controversial decisions that remain the hot topics.
The biggest talking point of the World Cup so far has to be England's disallowed goal. Managers, players and ex-players are all calling for video technology to be introduced into football, but still Mr Blatter won't allow it. The disallowed goal was an embarassing decision from the referee for FIFA, of course whether it would of had any bearing on the result is another matter for England fans to discuss, but surely this issue has to be addressed?
There's been plenty to discuss at the World Cup, along with some interesting boot spotting, some great team play and plenty to look forward to. Check out the SoccerBible's view on the latest goings on in South Africa...

It was interesting to see Fabregas back in his original Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots, Fabregas enjoyed a great season wearing his CTR's, and doesn't feel the need to upgrade to the Elite versions. |
The move started in their own half, but within five passes the English defence had been split open and Lukas Podolski had smashed the ball into the back of the net!
Brazil v Chile
The South American sides have been in impressive form at this World Cup, with all of them making it through to the knockout stages. Unfortunately one side will have to be eliminated when Brazil take on Chile. Traditionally Brazil are the flair side, but under Dunga they have adopted a more conservative approach, whilst Chile have been value for money with their gung-ho attacking mentallity, so this should be a great game to watch.
Brazilian playmaker Kaka returns to the side after serving his ridiculous one-match ban, but this may prove a blessing for Brazil to have a rested player orchestrating their attacks. Kaka plays in adidas adiPure III WC football boots, with great vision and ball touch, Kaka will be enthusiastic to drive Brazil forward and into the next round.
Known in his homeland as The Boy Wonder , Alexis Sanchez provides trickery and pace from the right side of Chile s three-man strikeforce. Sanchez has certainly made a few admirers during the World Cup, and could make himself a hero if he can help defeat Brazil. Interestingly, Sanchez has worn Nike Vapor Superfly football boots througout the tournament.
