PowerCat fires Spurs into Champions League Draw
Peter Crouch scored a Champions League hat-trick wearing the Puma PowerCat 1.10 football boots, firing Tottenham Hotspur into the draw for the Champions League group stages.
Tottenham Hotspur will make their debut in the Champions League group stages courtesy of a 6-3 aggregate victory, thanks to three goals from Puma PowerCat wearer Peter Crouch. Crouch had been a long term Puma v1 wearer, even telling the SoccerBible less than six months ago he was a fan of the v1's because of their lightweight.
However, Crouch never seemed too fond of the toe box on the v1.10 versions, and preferred the comfort, leather and power from the Powercat's. A boot that has been overshadowed of late due to a variety of lightweight football boots, such as the Elite range and the adiZero's, but after Crouch's hat-trick the Puma PowerCat's have been put firmly back on the performance radar.
After qualifying for the Champions League Crouch commented: "It's a massive achievement...now we've got the opportunity to draw a Barcelona, Inter Milan or Real Madrid. Spurs are a club that should be in the Champions League and we're looking forward to it.
"We've got some fantastic match-winning players. We're organised, can do a job away from home and I don't think any team would enjoy coming to White Hart Lane. We've got players who can take the game to them and on our day we can beat anyone. We've got enough about us to have a good run. We're happy and privileged to be in the competition and will give a good account of ourselves."
Tottenham's victory completed the lineup for the 2010/11 UEFA Champions League group stage, with the 32 teams that qualified split into four seeding pots for the draw on Thursday in Monaco. The seeding groups are shown below, with one team from each pot making up the four in a group, although you can't be drawn against teams from your own nation at this stage. So who knows, Tottenham could look forward to being in a group with Inter Milan, Real Madrid and FC Twente or perhaps Spurs fans would prefer Lyon, Panathinaikos and Zilina!
