Frank Rijkaard has parted company with Galatasaray by mutual consent after little more than a year in charge, reigniting speculation linking him with Liverpool.

The Dutchman took charge in June 2009 after leaving Barcelona in 2008 but he was only able to lead the club to a third-placed finish in the league last season. They have made a slow start to the new campaign and are currently ninth in the standings, eight points adrift of leaders Bursaspor.

A club statement today read: "As of Oct 20, 2010, coach Frank Rijkaard and assistant coach Johan Neeskens have left the club by mutual consent. Galatasaray thanks Frank Rijkaard for his efforts and work to date, sharing with us his experience and know-how."

Rijkaard has already been linked with former club Ajax as well as Liverpool, where Roy Hodgson has come under pressure following a poor start to his reign.
