Debate: The Snood - They might keep you warm, but are they worth the grief?

Debate: The Snood - They might keep you warm, but are they worth the grief?

Its official. There's a new word in the football language: the snood. Never heard of a snood? You might not be the only one, but since the temperatures have dropped these neck-warmers have been taking to the pitch in their numbers and are causing quite a stir...

Before football commentators and pundits started to insult the lack of masculinity acquired by donning a snood, the majority of football fans had never even heard of them. But now, we might have to consider introducing a 'Snood-Spotting' to the SoccerBible!

There are two arguments to this story. Are snoods a reasonable attempt to stay warm in freezing winter temperatures, or are they just a fashion statement for over papered players? It might be worth noting that the word snood is derived from an item of women's clothing! Snoods really have grabbed the attention of football fans, journalists and former players. It seems every one has an opinion when it comes the growing snood craze.

A lot of people support the opinion that Snoods go beyond what is acceptable. If it's a cold day, man up! Football managers will argue that Snoods, like gloves, send out the wrong signals. Since John Barnes first took to the field in a pair of gloves, they have grown to become an acceptable part of the modern game. Are snood's going to follow the same road?

Although opinions on the snood may be devided, I think there's one thing we can all agree on. A snood, gloves AND a pair of tights go way beyond the call of duty! Emmanuel Eboue...what were you thinking?

So, will snood's soon be a regular feature of the winter seasons? Let us know what your opinions are on them. Are there any snood supporters out there?
