Ronaldo back in Safari's as Madrid stutter in Lyon
In a night where Lyon battled to save their seven match unbeaten run against Real Madrid, there was an unexpected boot spot on show. Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been wearing the new Windchill Nike Superfly II football boots since their release back in January, was spotted wearing his previous signature boots; the Nike Safari Superfly's.
There are suggestions that Nike have asked the Real Madrid striker to wear his Safari Superfly's during Champions League games and the Windchill's in La Liga in an attempt to maximise exposure for both boots.
There were some grumbles among boots fans when CR7 switched to the new Windchill Superfly II football boots so soon after the release of his bespoke Safari's. Now it seems Ronaldo's Safari's might be back in the limelight of the Champions League.
It was a tight match brought to life by the substitution of Karim Benzema who came on for Emmanuel Adebayor (who was back wearing the black/electricity adiZero's). The former Lyon striker scored with his first touch that looked to give Real the edge ahead of the return leg. But with seven minutes from time Bafetimbi Gomis made sure Lyon's unbeaten run against the Spanish giants continued!
Real Madrid have been knocked out at this stage of the competition in each of the last six seasons, including at the hands of Lyon last year. With Benzema's crucial away goal, Madrid are still firmly on course to make the quarter finals but Lyon will now travel to the Santiago Bernabéu hopeful of an upset.
So for all the Superfly and Ronaldo fans out there, what football boots would you rather see CR7 in?
