Premier League Title Race Wide Open?

Premier League Title Race Wide Open?

Image
After what some would argue was a controversial Chelsea victory, has the Premier League title race been blown wide open again, as Manchester United's lead at the top of the table looks less convincing and Arsenal needing just victories to claim the title.

Frank Lampard, in his classy white/blue adidas adiPure IV football boots, emphatically fired home from the penalty spot 11 minutes from time to breathe new life into the title race. Manchester United are still in the driving seat but with Liverpool up next, is a march towards a record 19th league title now not such an inevitability?

Lampard rammed home the controversial penalty after substitute Yuri Zhirkov had fallen over Chris Smalling's outstretched leg. But the entire game was a footballing spectacle played at a frantic pace, with plenty of debate caused.

We saw the good, the bad and the ugly side of Nike Tiempo Legend wearer David Luiz. He impressed with a quality equalising strike to cancel out Rooney's as impressive strike, in his Nike T90 Laser III football boots. But United fans will argue that Luiz should have been sent off two minutes before Chelsea earned their match-winning penalty. Whilst United captain Nemanja Vidic has caused Ferguson a defensive headache, after his red card means he will miss this weekend's game against rivals Liverpool, with Rio Ferdinand also looking likely to miss out through injury.

All this means that with Arsenal sitting just four points behind United with a game in hand, theoretically the Gunners destiny is in their own hands. It s a tall order, but win their remaining fixtures and they ll be champions. The situation will look even better for Arsenal and the chasing pack of Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea if Liverpool can help them out with a victory at Anfield.

What's your opinion, are United still in pole position to win the Premier League or is the title race wide open again?
