Messi & adiZero Breaks More Records

Messi & adiZero Breaks More Records

The worlds best football player invites parallels with few. Now, with an astonishing 50 goals in all competitions this season, Lionel Messi has ventured into uncharted footballing waters. His individual greatness, that could lead the Blaugrana to a League and Champions League double, has reached new heights with this astonishing record-breaking achievement.

The adiZero goal machine has reached a number unfamiliar with strikers in Spain. When Messi scored Barcelona's second goal in their 2-0 victory over Osasuna on Saturday, he wrote his name into another chapter of Spanish football history, becoming the first ever player to score 50 goals in a single season.

The last player to threaten the 50 barrier was Brazil's great Ronaldo, who accomplished the previous record of 47 goals in 1997 for Barcelona. Few from football's modern era have come close to Messi's achievement. Mario Jardel's 55 goal tally in the 99-00 season for Porto, along with Henrik Larsson's 53 for Celtic in 00-01 were remarkable in their own right, but do not stand in comparison to the same feat accomplished in the Spanish League.

Every boot has their global hero. Lionel Messi and the adiZero have combined in mesmeric style this season, providing an endless supply of goals and assists. Throughout the 10-11 campaign, the Argentine has worn three editions of the famous adidas speed boot.

For Messi's global iconic status, adidas have yet to utilise 'brand' Messi with their newest range of adiZero football boots. Rather surprisingly, Messi is still wearing the original launch colour-way of the new adiZero that was released over four months ago. Unlike Nike and the CR Superfly, adidas have not released a new signature Messi adiZero. We expect it's only a matter of time before a follow up the gold adiZero is released by adidas.

Should Barcelona reach the Champions League Final, we could be in line for something new. For adidas, a Messi master-class in the upcoming El Clasico semi-final to reach Wembley would top off a near perfect season for Messi and the adiZero.  Who can forget the little magicians celebration in the 08-09 Final where he took off his adidas F50i boots in a parade to the world.
