Messi & adiZero Silences Bernabéu

If anyone was going to shatter Real Madrid's Champions League dreams in dramatic style, it had to be the little Argentine. Lionel Messi's two goal extravaganza all but booked a date with Manchester United at Wembley in May. In an ugly encounter scattered with theatrics and petty fouls, the magic of Messi enlivened the clash in the closing stages.

Lionel Messi took his incredible goal tally to 52 for the season, while taking his Santiago Bernabeu goal count to six.  The adiZero wizard finally broke the deadlock in the 75th minute after some superb wing-play from substitute Affelay. Just twelve minutes later, Messi provided a moment of genius, dancing through he Madrid defence in a breathtaking solo effort to tap-in one of the most spectacular goals of the season.

For adidas, their adiZero talisman provided the boots with another moment of worldwide publicity as Cristiano Ronaldo and his CR Superfly's were left in the shadows. For all of the extravagant designs, advertising campaigns and bright colours the Nike Mercurial range can offer, they will always have one disadvantage - Lionel Messi wears adiZero.

Madrid fans will question the manner in which Barcelona left Madrid with a 2-0 lead, but despite the protests, Barcelona look to be heading to Wembley to take on the biggest force in English football. Could we be in line for another boot-kissing celebration in a repeat of the 2009 Champions League final?
