Europe's Elite

Europe's Elite

Europe's top domestic prizes were handed out this weekend, after a season which saw almost one hundred clubs compete for just five honours, here are the winners from the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1, making up Europe's elite football clubs...

Preparations for the 2011/12 season have already begun, and as every club re-builds they will be doing so to emulate the achievements of Manchester United, Barcelona, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Lille.

Manchester United reclaimed their Premier League crown, making it a record nineteen top flight league titles, and in the end it was a comfortable nine-point lead. For United it was a tale of two strikers, with Dimitar Berbatov in fine scoring form for the first half of the season in adidas Predator football boots, whilst for the second half it was bargain signing Javier Hernandez in Nike Tiempo Legends who was deadly in front of goal.

In La Liga, Barcelona overcame fierce rivals Real Madrid to record their third consecutive title. Their attacking brand of football has won Barca global acclaim, with rival clubs and managers jealously watching on of a team comprised of the likes of Messi, Villa, Pedro, Xavi and Iniesta!

It was a return to the top for AC Milan who claimed their first league title since the 03/04 season. It was a dominant season from the Rossoneri thanks to a starring cast which included the likes of Robinho, Ibrahimovic, Pato, Cassano, Seedorf, Pirlo and Gattuso!

One of Europe's biggest shocks was the ineffectiveness of Bayern Munich and the relentless dominance of Borussia Dortmund, who secured only their seventh ever Bundesliga title. Top goalscorer was Lucas Barrios who did so in a host of Puma v1 football boots.

Lille lifted only their third ever Ligue 1 title, thanks to two of Europe's hottest properties. Eden Hazard and Gervinho have been attacking threats throughout the season, but whether Lille will be strong enough to re-claim their title in the 11/12 season will depend on whether their star assets stick around.

As the reality of a summer without football dawns on fans across the continent, we're sure there are plenty with an opinion on the past 12 months and how their team should build for the next 12 months...
