Weekend Football Boots Spotting - 23/05/11

Our resident Boot Spotters reported back with a real variety of football boots this week, including a brand new boots and custom paint jobs! Check out the best of the football boots on show, from what was for many teams and players the last game of the season...

Joey Barton (Newcastle United) adidas adiPower Predator

It could be argued that Joey Barton is an old-fashioned no nonsense midfielder. So it doesn't surprise us he's sticking with the traditional black/white/red colourway for his adiPower Predator football boots. Which we think look like an almost retro Pred.

Maya Yoshida (VVV Venlo) Mizuno Wave Ignitus II

It's not just Keisuke Honda who is rocking the new Mizuno Wave Ignitus II football boots, after we spotted centre-back Yoshida sporting the blue colourways. The sole-plate is quite interesting though, as Yoshida looks to be sporting soft ground versions with moulded studs.

Mauro Zarate (Lazio) adidas F50 adizero

We're still unsure if Zarate is meant to be wearing the adizero's after previously being endorsed by Nike. But whether he is or isn't he's done a great job customising his boots, he's painted the upper leaving the white outsole exposed, and has threaded some blue (perhaps after Lazio) laces.

Antonio Cassano (AC Milan) Diadora

On the global boots market Diadora has practically fallen off the radar, but Cassano is single-handedly keeping the brand in the limelight.  Although Diadora have given him a helping hand with these bright fluorescent yellow football boots!

Lucio (Inter Milan) adidas adiPower Predator

A former Pred wearer who switched into adizero's, Lucio is now back in the adidas Predator football boots. Clearly a fan of a lightweight boot, the new adiPower has caused a lot of players, Nani included, to change boots.

Edgar Andrade (Chiapas) adidas F50 adizero

Not many players would be bold enough to wear a boot released specifically for a player, but we've seen it in the past with player wearing Cristiano Ronaldo's boots. But we haven't seen many players pulling off a Messi colourway, apart from 23-year-old Chiapas midfielder Edgar Andrade!

Arturo Avlarez (Real Salt Lake) Puma v1.10 SL

From what we understand the v1 range is soon to be updated with the brand new v1.11 football boots. But it's still good to see a player sporting the v1.10 SL football boots, the one-time lightest football boots on the market.

Antonio Nocerino (Palermo) Lotto Fuerzapura Custom

It took a few looks to figure out what football boots Nocerino was sporting. We're used to blacked-out adidas or Nike football boots, but it was after inspecting the heel counter and lacing system that we established Nocerino had blacked out his Lotto Fuerzapura football boots.

Edwin Van Der Sar (Manchester United) adidas adiPower Predator

Van Der Sar bidded farewell to the Premier League wearing the brand new adidas Predator football boots. The Predator has served Van Der Sar well for the majority of his career, and having worn a host of incarnations, it'd be interesting to hear his opinion on the adiPower's.

Bobby Zamora (Fulham) Under Armour

Bobby Zamora was debuting a brand new pair of Under Armour football boots, but we don't want to give too much away about his new boots, because they're a fantastic new release which we'll be fully unveiling very soon with exclusive photography, so stay tuned!

Siem De Jong (Ajax) adidas adiPower Predator

Recently crowned Eredivisie champions Ajax were involved in a friendly with DC United, which they won 2-1. A game in which Siem De Jong was just one of many players sporting the new adidas adiPower Predator football boots, which are currently taking the game by storm.

Mikael Yourassowsky (Toronto) adidas F50 adizero

Combine one of the most revolutionary and popular football boots with a fly silver and orange colourway, and you'd expect to get one popular boot. Well surprisingly this wasn't the case, as there wasn't a big player uptake for the chrome adizero's. Which is a shame because they really do stand-out on pitch.

If there are any players and boots you've spotted and think should feature on this page, mail us at: u2us@soccerbible.com putting 'Boot Spotting' in the subject field.
