Jack Wilshere & Ashley Cole Talk Football Boots

Jack Wilshere & Ashley Cole Talk Football Boots

They're two of the Premier League's biggest Nike CTR360 players. We recently caught up with SoccerBible CTR player of the season Jack Wilshere and Chelsea full back Ashely Cole to talk football boots. Check out what they had to say and share your thoughts with the SoccerBible community online now!

SB: The Arsenal midfield is packed with CTR wearers. Yourself, Cesc Fabregas, Alex Song, and Abou Diaby all wear the boots. What is it about the CTR's that makes them so popular with central midfield players?

JW:
I think it's the way they make you feel and the confidence they give you. So much of the game is in your head and it's important you feel right in what you're wearing.

They feel like you're wearing a pair of slippers they re that comfortable. When the ball comes to you they give you a nice soft touch.

They're a light boot which is great for getting around the pitch - I think they're the perfect boot for any midfield player.

SB: The two CTR II colourways you've worn this season have both been very suited to the Arsenal home and away colours. Is that always a bonus?

JW:
It's great because Nike always bring out great colours for the CTR's.
The red/white boots were obviously great for the Arsenal home colours and the white/yellow boots were great for our away kit. I've been lucky because that's not always the case every season!

SB: What do you think of the brighter boots that some of your team mates wear?

JW: I see the Vapor's that Theo (Walcott) and Nicklas (Bendtner) bring into training. I think the bright boots like the Vapors are more suited to faster players. I don't think I could get away with wearing them!

SB: Do you ever comment on your team-mates boots in training when they bring in a new pair?

JW: Yeah definitely! It's hard not to notice when guys like Theo and Andrey (Arshavin) get a new pair of boots! But I think as long as you score goals you can wear whatever colour boots you like!

SB: The CTR boots focus on control. Do you have any advice for players looking to improve their first touch and control?

JW: When I was growing up, I think one of the best things that helped me was getting a ball and just kicking it against a wall for as long as I could. Having control of the ball is everything so make sure you always want the ball whether it's in a game or in training.

SB: You were voted SoccerBible CTR360 player of the season. Do you have a message for our SoccerBible readers?

JW: Obviously a big thanks to all of the SoccerBible fans. I'm looking forward to the new season already and can't wait to see what new CTR boots I'll be wearing.

Widely regarded as one of the worlds finest full-backs, Ashley Cole has become one of the CTR's unsung players and a symbol of the boots versatility. We caught up with the Chelsea and England full back recently to talk football boots!

SB: Why did you choose the CTR360 football boots?

AC:
I tested the CTR's out and as soon as I tried them on I didn't want to take them off. They were so comfortable, especially around the sides and the upper felt amazing. I've worn them for a while now and I don't think you can beat them!

SB: Is there still a sense of excitement when you receive a new pair of boots?

AC: Yeah definitely, I still put them on and wear them in the bath! You want to mould the boot to your feet so I try and wear them as much as possible around the house.

It's the same feeling as when I was a kid. I still get excited when I'm given new colours and new designs. I'm always excited to try a new pair out!

SB: Do you ever keep pairs of boots from memorable games?

AC: Yeah of course! My collection is huge. Nearly every different style I've worn since I was a kid I've kept away at home.

Obviously I've also kept boots from cup finals such as the Champions League and FA Cup! I think the last pair I kept was CTR's from the 2010 FA Cup final.

SB: What do you think of the more brightly coloured boots?

AC: Well I've worn some bright boots in my time and I've really liked the CTR colourways. A few years back, if you wore bright colours people would say ''who do you think you are?''

Now, less players wear all black boots. Most boots are colourful and the younger generation love the bright boots!
