Football Boots - Premier League Top Goalscorer
Puma and adidas lead the way as Premier League top goalscorers, after an opening weekend which saw ten different football boots get on the scoresheet. Here are the football boots that made the quickest start to the EPL season...
There was a total of 16 goals scored in the opening weekend of the Premier League (including two OG's), and here's a table listing the football boots responsible for the ball hitting the back of the net! Largely thanks to Sergio Aguero, the Puma v1.11 football boots have left the biggest impression after scoring three goals, two from Aguero and one from Shane Long. However, Puma's speed boots haven't been able to break away from the field, as they are level pegging with the adidas F50 adizero.
Equalling the v1.11 total for the opening weekend are the F50 adizero's, perhaps not grabbing the headlines as they didn't have one outstanding contributor. Although of course, if Ashley Young had been able to lay claim to his cross/goal then adizero would be the clear top goalscorer in the Premier League. But with goals from David Silva, Ivan Klasnic and Luis Suarez the adizero will have to settle for joint first...for now!
Also equalling the total of three goals, but quite a contentious issue, are the adidas adiPure football boots. We think we'll throw this one out to the SoccerBible community whether to acknowledge OG's, basically because of the three goals scored by the adiPure two were in the wrong net! But Edin Dzeko was a clear goalscorer after his goal against Swansea.
It may come as a surprise, especially to fans of the Swoosh, that Nike could only muster one goal from each boot silo over the weekend, courtesy of goals from Rooney, Fletcher, Larsson and Muamba. Obviously it's early days, but it will be interesting to see how the Boot Race develops this season, as we currently stand on total goals scored; adidas 7, Puma 4, Nike 4, Umbro 1!
