Weekend Football Boots Spotting - 19/09/11

This weekend saw the new Nike T90 Laser IV officially arrive on one of footballs biggest stages. Old Trafford played host to the boots Premier League debut in a match that will not be forgotten any time soon! Check out the boots our resident SoccerBible boot spotters returned with this week. Share your thoughts online, on Twitter and on Facebook.

Fernando Torres (Chelsea) Nike T90 Laser IV

Chelsea's struggling number 9 went from zero to hero, before quickly returning to zero. Just when things were looking up for Fernando Torres, the Spanish international suffered the ultimate humiliation in front of Old Trafford's fiery Stretford End, missing an open goal. At least his new Nike T90 Laser IV boots looked good in action...

Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) Nike T90 Laser IV

Along with Torres, Wayne Rooney ensured the new Nike T90 Laser IV boots made the back pages today! It was the debut we were all waiting for as Manchester United's top scorer officially marked the arrival of Nike's new boot. A goal on the stroke of half time was soon followed by a missed penalty that allowed us a slow-motion view of Wayne's new boots as he spectacularly slipped to the floor!

Joey Barton (Queens Park Rangers) New Puma Boot

Following the arrival of the new Nike T90 Laser IV, Puma seem to be waiting in the wings with a new power boot of their own! Once again, Puma athlete and QPR captain Joey Barton was putting his new unreleased white-out Puma football boots to the test as his side took on Wolves. Puma remain tight-lipped on any details, but an official release may not be too far away.

Assou-Ekotto (Tottenham Hotspur) adidas Predator adiPower

Tottenham put in their performance of the season as they took on a lacklustre Liverpool side on Sunday. Among all of the boots on show, there was something noticeably different about Assou-Ekotto's adidas adiPower football boots. The Tottenham full-back had given his boots the black marker treatment, blacking out the yellow stripes on the outside and inside.

Alvaro Saborio (Real Salt Lake) adidas adiPower Predator

Arguably one of the best looking boots on show at the moment! Real Salt Lake forward Alvaro Saborio was spotted wearing the new UCL adiPower Predator football boots as his side took on Sporting Kansas City. It was only last week when Saborio was spotted wearing adiads Copa Mundials! He looks to have finally gotten his hands on a pair of adiPower's after a string of performances in the Pred X.

Hugo Acosta (Club Santa Fe) Nike Mercurial Superfly III ID

We try and bring you at least one unusual boot spot each week and this time it comes courtesy of Hugo Acosta of Columbian side Club Santa Fe! He was spotted wearing one of the most bizarre attempts at personal boot design we've seen in a long time! A combination of blue, purple and yellow certainly created a unique look for Acosta's Nike Superfly III ID boots!

Gonzalo Higuain (Real Madrid) Nike T90 Laser IV

Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain has kicked off his first full season as a fully fledged Nike T90 Laser athlete! The Argentine was giving the new Nike boots their official La Liga debut as his Real Madrid side took on Levante. His T90 team mate Sergio Ramos however remained in his trusted Laser III boots as the Spanish giants crashed to an unexpected 1-0 defeat.

Mark Gower (Swansea City) Nike T90 Laser III ID

With attention firmly on the Nike T90 Laser IV, it would have been easy to miss Mark Gower's custom Nike Laser III football boots! The Swansea City youngster and Wales international put in another strong performance for the Premier League newcomers wearing his custom white/orange Nike boots - will he soon be tempted by the new T90 Laser IV?

Martin Petrov (Bolton) adidas F50 adiZero Leather

After recent international performances for Bulgaria wearing the Anodized Purple adiZero's, Bolton's Martin Petrov was back in his white/blue/slime F50 adiZero Leather football boots. Petrov found the back of the net from the penalty spot as Bolton were defeated by a Norwich side who claimed their first Premier League victory at the Reebok Stadium.

Alexandre Pato (AC Milan) Nike T90 Laser IV

AC Milan's Alexandre Pato headlined the list of T90 newcomers this weekend as he announced himself as a Laser IV convert. The former Mercurial speedster was spotted wearing the new Nike boots as his side were defeated 3-1 in Naples. Pato put in a disappointing performance as his opposite number Edinson Cavani stole the headlines with an impressive hat-trick.

Darlington Nagbe (Portland Timbers) adidas adiPURE SL

A great spot from the MLS saw Portland Timbers winger Darlington Nagbe wearing the rarely seen white/black/gold adiPURE SL football boots! Nagbe found the back of the net as his Portland Timbers side chopped down (excuse the pun!) the New England Revolution 3-0, sending them bottom of the MLS standings.
