Cesc Fabregas - Football Boots So Far

In the Soccer Gear Society the big news this weekend is undoubtedly Cesc Fabregas debuting the new Puma PowerCat 1.12 football boots. So as Cesc prepares to debut another new boot, we decided to look back on his career so far through the boots he's worn.

From an Arsenal debut in Nike AZT90 III football boots back in 2003, right through to the present day and training in the new PowerCat 1.12 football boots, here are the pinnacle moments in Cesc's footwear career...

Nike Tiempo Premier (2003/04)

Word had spread throughout the football community of Arsenal's prodigal talent, long before Cesc's debut in the League Cup in October 2003. Playing against Rotherham United, Fabregas became Arsenal's youngest ever first team player aged 16 years and 177 days, and did so wearing the Nike Tiempo Premier football boots.

Fabregas had to wait until the following season for his first team debut proper. Stepping in for an injured Patrick Vieira, Fabregas played in the Community Shield and the next four consecutive games for Arsenal. But it was a change of footwear for the midfielder, as he switched into the Nike AZT90 III range which was also being adopted by fellow global talent Wayne Rooney.

Fabregas remained in the Nike AZT90 III football boots, changing into the white/red colourway a great match for the Arsenal strip, as he won his first honours with Arsenal. Facing Manchester United in the final, Arsenal were victorious on penalties to lift the 2005 FA Cup, with Cesc Fabregas in the starting line-up.

Nike Tiempo Legend (2005/06)

It was apprentice versus the master in 2006, when Patrick Vieira returned to Arsenal in the Champions League with Juventus. For many this was when the young Fabregas came of age, as he out-played and out-hustled former Highbury favourite Vieira. A new era was signalled by a new pair of football boots, as Cesc had switched into the Nike Tiempo Legend football boots.

Again showing his loyalty to the colours, Fabregas adopted the white/red colourway for the Nike Tiempo Legend I football boots. Fabregas was becoming the heartbeat of the Arsenal side, and led the team to the Champions League final against former club Barcelona, but it was Barca who lift the trophy after a narrow 2-1 victory.

At the start of the 2006/07 season Fabregas was given the number 4 shirt, previously worn by Patrick Vieira. He remained in the Nike Tiempo Legend I football boots and again asserted his authority on the side, finishing the season voted Arsenal's Player of the Season.

Nike Tiempo Legend II (2007/08)

By the 07/08 season Fabregas was a fully pledged fan of the Nike Tiempo Legend range, and on-pitch things were going from good to even better! One of the highlights of the season was the Champions League victory over AC Milan, in which Fabregas was a goal scorer, before being named the PFA Young Player of the Year.

Nike Tiempo Legend EC08 (2007/08)

A great season was completed when Fabregas lifted the EURO 2008 trophy with Spain. Named in the starting eleven for the final against Germany, Fabregas lifted Spain's first major title since 1964 and his performances credited him a place in the Team of the Tournament. Fabregas joined a host of players in a unified Nike European Championships range, which for Fabregas was Legend II EC08 football boots with a simple black/white upper and blue sole-plate.

Nike Tiempo Legend II (2008/09)

Fabregas was handed the captain's armband in November 2008, one of the pinnacles of a remarkable career with Arsenal. In the space of 5 years Fabregas had gone from a sixteen year old making his debut, to becoming the Arsenal captain! Fabregas was also now in the Tiempo Legend II football boots, and continued his 'Cesc 4' personalisation.

Nike Tiempo Legend III (2009/10)

Fabregas began the 09/10 season in the Tiempo Legend III football boots, and started in flying form. In the first Premier League game of the season Arsenal defeated Everton 6-1 at goodison Park, with Cesc was on the scoresheet twice and assisting two goals.

Nike CTR360 Maestri (2009/10)

Such was Fabregas' standing that he was about to become the face of a brand new Nike boot silo. In October 2009, Nike launched their CTR360 Maestri football boots designed for midfield playmakers to master control. Fabregas was the face of the CTR360 range and delivered the perfect debut with a stunning display in a 6-2 victory over Blackburn, possibly his best ever in an Arsenal shirt, scoring a stunning goal of his own and assisting 4!

Nike CTR360 Maestri Elite (2009/10)

If Fabregas was a master of control and goal assists, then none could be more important than his assist in the World Cup final. Setting-up Andres Iniesta to score the winning goal, Spain were crowned the champions of the world for the first time in the nations history. Again, Nike unified their boots this time releasing the Elite editions in which Fabregas wore the CTR360 Maestri Elite football boots along with team-mate Iniesta.

Nike CTR360 Maestri II (2010/11)

The 10/11 season was ultimately Fabregas' last for both Arsenal and Nike. It was quite a frustrating one for Fabregas with injuries hampering his performances and ruling him out of the Carling Cup final. However, Fabregas excelled agsinst both Barcelona and Chelsea, and it was exciting to see Fabregas debut the Nike CTR360 Maestri II football boots against Manchester United.

Fabregas completed his dream move back to Barcelona ahead of the 2011/12 season, to once again link up with the likes of Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique. He returned wearing the Maestri II football boots, and in his first 3 games Cesc picked up 3 trophies, and in his first 4 league games Fabregas scored 4 goals!

Puma PowerCat 1.12 (2011/12)

Fabregas shocked the boot community when on 21st September he was spotted wearing a pair of whited-out Puma PowerCat 1.12 football boots. We desperately wanted to share that Puma had signed the midfielder, but instead we kept our word with Puma and joined them in officially announcing the signing of Fabregas on 30th September. Injury has postponed his debut in the Puma's, but this Saturday Fabregas is expected to debut the Puma PowerCat 1.12 football boots, and let's hope it's a stunning one!

Of course, there are many other colours and editions we could have chosen but we're sure you'll agree this selection is certainly fitting of the career of a player who is fast becoming one of the game's greats.

What do you think of Fabregas' footwear choice, in a short career he's certainly had an effect on first Nike and now Puma. As we countdown to his debut of the Puma PowerCat 1.12 football boots, share your opinions with the SoccerBible community  online, on Twitter and on our Facebook page.
