New Nike Baselayers - Gear Up For Winter

For many players, especially across Europe, the need to gear up in baselayers is fast approaching to maintain a high level of performance throughout 90 minutes. We'll soon be seeing the likes of Wayne Rooney and Wesley Sneijder taking to the pitch in their Nike baselayer, and hopefully there won't be a snood in sight!

High performance baselayers are specially designed to protect athletes against the elements over the coming months. This is not only for comfort, but to also keep your muscles warm to perform at their potential, your blood fully circulating and to draw the moisture away from the body. The latest range to hit the market is the Nike Pro Combat Hyperwarm Shield, and here's a close-up look at the Mock in action.

On the technical side of things, the garment features Nike Shield water-repelling technology covering the sleeves, Thermal Dri-FIT fabric keeps the cold out and pulls away sweat to help you stay dry and warm to the core, whilst the side, sleeve, and upper-back inset zones feature Dri-FIT mesh fabric for ventilation and comfort.

One of the tag lines Nike have used to launch the new Nike Pro Combat Hyperwarm Shield Mock is - 'Dry where you need it warm where it counts.' By this they're referring to DWR (Durable Water Resistant) finish, which covers the polyester and jersey fabric sleeves, designed for winter weather conditions, and demonstrated in the video Nike are circulating.

For warmth, the new Nike baselayer is engineered using a Dri-FIT fabric with a brushed inner-surface, helping to pull sweat away from the body to keep athletes comfortable, dry and warm. Flat seams reduce irritation, and a body skimming fit similar to the principle of a wetsuit, traps a thin layer of air instead of water next to the skin for warmth, which is then locked-in by the Mock neck.

But we're keen to know, are you a footballer who's embraced modern baselayers? They're something that have become increasingly popular in recent years, and you can expect to see your favourite players adorned in them over the coming months.
