Weekend Football Boots Spotting - 10/10/11

Weekend Football Boots Spotting - 10/10/11

League action took a back seat to international fixtures this weekend as Euro 2012 and World Cup 2014 qualifying matches took place across the world. As always our SoccerBible boot spotters have covered all four corners of the globe to bring you the latest and greatest boots in action! See who has made it in this week and share your thoughts online, on Twitter and on Facebook.

Mohd Safee Mohd Sali (Malaysia) Nike T90 Laser IV

Formerly a Nike Mercurial player, Malaysia's Mohd Safee Mohd Sali was spotted in the Black/Yellow/SilverT90 Laser IV football boots as his side took on the Australian Socceroos. The Kanga-Lite T90's have taken a back seat to the White/Orange/Black synthetics but are still making a strong appearance! We're expecting a strong player uptake once the Kanga-Lite boots receive further colour updates.

Antonio Valencia (Ecuador) Nike Tiempo Legend IV

For months, Antonio Valencia has been the subject of numerous boot spots wearing blacked-out adizero's. Now the Manchester United winger has made a surprise switch to the White/GoldNike Legend IV. We're yet to see if this is a permanent move or a one-off for international games. When he's back playing in front of millions of TV viewers at Old Trafford, we could see him return to his black footwear in search of an endorsement contract.

Jacob Burns (Perth Glory) Nike CTR360 Maestri II

Jacob Burns showed us what a great match the new colourways for the Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots  are with the Perth Glory home strip. The  Glory's home game against Adelaide was the first opportunity Burns has had to wear the White/Silver/Purple versions.

Fernando Saritama (Ecuador) adidas Predator adiPower SL

They don't come around too often so it's somewhat of a treat when we spot an adiPower SL. Ecuador's Fernando Saritama was spotted in the limited edition White/Black/Blue MetallicadiPower Predator SL boots as his side took on Venezuela. Interestingly Saritama has worn both adizero and adiPure boots in recent games for club and country.

Thiago AlcÂntara (Spain) Nike T90 Laser IV

Already breaking into the Spanish national side, Barcelona's Thiago AlcÂntara was spotted in a customised pair of Nike T90 Laser IV football boots as he took part in pre-match training preparations. Like many of Nike's contracted players, Thiago's boots featured a Tiempo configured sole-plate in place of the standard T90 studs. Something we've seen with players including Jack Wilshere and AndrÉs Iniesta.

Michael Duberry (Oxford United) adidas Predator adiPower Custom

Heading all the way down to League Two in England, Oxford's Michael Duberry gave us an unexpected boot spot wearing a unique white-out pair of adiPower football boots. The former Chelsea defender's boots may be better equipped for the summer months but still looked ultra-clean as his side took on Bristol Rovers.

Sammy Ochoa (Seattle Sounders) Nike T90 Laser III Blackout

As players around him move into the new T90 Laser IV football boots, Sammy Ochoa has switched out of his adidas adiPower Predators into some blacked-out Laser III's. An interesting move by Ochoa, and we're not sure if it's related to a contract dispute, because he's not trying out a brand new boot.

James Myer (Brisbane Roar) Nike CR Safari Superfly

They remain arguably the most unique soccer shoes to ever have been released. That's why it's always great to see the CR Safari Nike Superfly on show! James Myer of Brisbane Roar gave the boots a showing down under as his side took on the Central Coast Mariners. Speculation is starting to surround an upcoming CR exclusive. Whatever Nike may have in stall, they'll be hard pushed to beat these!

Julio Cesar de Leon (Honduras) adidas Predator adiPower SL

This weeks international fixtures have given us two adipower SL spots! The second comes courtesy of Honduras number 10 Julio Cesar de Leon. The Honduran midfielder has managed to get his hands on a pair of limited edition White/Black/Blue MetallicadiPower Predator SL boots. His side suffered a 1-0 defeat to the USA with Jurgen Klinsmann taking charge of his first match.

Paul Ifill (Wellington Phoenix) Puma PowerCat 1.10 Tokyo

Former Premier League player Paul Ifill has been plying his trade in New Zealand for the last two seasons. The Barbados international and Wellingto Phoenix player has had some interesting boot choices, and after previously wearing the Black/Gold Puma v-Konstrukt's, Ifill has switched into the Tokyo editions of the Puma PowerCat.

Juan Vargas (Peru) Umbro Geometra Pro

Umbro man Juan Vargas was spotted in the new Umbro Geometra Pro colourway on Friday during Peru's World Cup South American qualifying match against Paraguay. Vargas is known for his strong affection with Umbro having worn Speciali, Stealth and Geometra boots in recent years. His latest Black/Blue Geometra boots were off to winning ways as his side beat Paraguay 2-0.

Robson (Gold Coast United) Pele 1970

Brazilian midfielder Robson is wearing the boots of national hero Pele, whilst playing for Australian side Gold Coast United. We've notice Robson has done a little customisation job on his Pele Sports 1970 football boots, by not only removing the lace cover, but also threading some white laces tied in the traditional manner.

Shalrie Joseph (New England Revolution) adidas adi5 Turf

It's not the first time Shalrie has found himself featured in our Boot Spotting, and it's not the first time he's worn turf trainers instead of soccer cleats. Joseph was spotted playing for the Revolution wearing a pair of turf adidas adi5 trainers, but we're not sure why he opts not to wear the hard ground or turf versions of the adiPowers he usually wears.

Harry Kewell (Melbourne Victory) Nike Tiempo Legend IV

Harry Kewell has returned to his native Australia, and at the age of 33 seemingly to play out a final contract of an eventful career. Kewell made his first appearance of the season against Sydney FC this weekend in a 0-0 draw, a game in which he wore the Tiempo IV's in White/Blue, and it's Tiempo that Kewell has favoured in recent years after previously being a Pred wearer.
