Global Football Boots Spotting - 05/12/11

Global Football Boots Spotting - 05/12/11

A real variety of football boots on show in this week's edition of Global Boots Spotting, ranging from the depths of non-league football to the World's elite leagues. Our boot spotters were out in force, taking in as much football as humanely possible! Share your thoughts online, on Twitter and on Facebook.

Gareth Bale (Tottenham Hotspur) adidas f50 adizero miCoach

Welshman Gareth Bale was the man leading the boot-spotting headlines at the weekend after finding the back of the net wearing his personalised adidas f50 adizero miCoach football boots. In a fitting tribute to the recently passed former Wales manager Gary Speed, Bale had the words ''RIP Gary Speed'' stitched onto the side of his adidas football boots.

Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal) Nike CTR360 Maestri II

There were many boot-spotting shouts coming from the DW Stadium as Arsenal trounced Wigan 4-0. Former Predator man Thomas Vermaelan seems to have confirmed his brand allegiance switch after wearing the CTR360 for the second time on Saturday. Mikel Arteta interestingly reverted back to his Puma King Finale's, while most surprisingly, Arsenal goal-machine RVP was in action wearing his old adidas Predator X boots!

Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII

Cristiano Ronaldo gave us another look at his disguised Nike Vapor VIII football boots at the weekend as Real Madrid beat Sporting Gijon 3-0. Cristiano Ronaldo delivered in the 64th minute wearing his bespoke boots, after beating the offside trap to receive an inch-perfect ball from Di Maria. Despite testing now being in full-swing, we don't expect the Nike Vapor VIII to land until March/April 2012.

Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur) Umbro GT II Pro

Tottenham's flying full-back Kyle Walker is one of the lead players for the new Umbro GT II Pro and was in action wearing his new boots as Tottenham took on Bolton at White Heart Lane. Walker is no stranger to bright boots, having been a regular face for the original GT Pro. The Tottenham defender has cemented a regular place in the Spurs starting XI, which is good news for Umbro's latest speed boot!

Paul Ifill (Wellington Phoenix) Puma PowerCat 1.10 Tokyo

We wonder if PUMA have any crazy ideas lined up for the PowerCat 1.12. Wellington Phoenix winger Paul Ifill reminded us just how unique the Tokyo PowerCat 1.10 boots are as he put them into action in the Australian A League. They're a rare spot so it's great to see a boot that really is unlike anything else out there!

Joey Barton (Queens Park Rangers) adidas Predator adiPower

Has Joey Barton ditched his PUMA PowerCat 1.12 football boots? Barton began the 11/12 season wearing the adidas adiPower, before making the switch to the triple-white PUMA PowerCat 1.12. Now the QPR captain has reverted back to the adidas Predator once more, raising questions over his future with PUMA.

Fousseni Diawara (Ajaccio) Nike Tiempo Legend IV

AC Ajaccio defender Fousseni Diaware gave us a look at what Nike have in line for us in 2012. The Frenchman was wearing the upcoming colourway of the Nike Tiempo range, expected to land in January! The classic and ever-popular white/red colourway is no stranger to the Tiempo series, having featured in the Legend III.

Marc Tierney (Norwich City) miadidas Predator adiPower

We've seen a good number of miadidas Preador adiPower boots this season, but Marc Tierney may have the best yet! The Norwich City full back was in action against Manchester City wearing his great looking white/gold Predator creations - a colourway adidas would be proud of themselves!

Hilal Soudani (Vitoria Guimaraes) Nike Superfly CR7 III

It could be down to Cristiano Ronaldo's influence, or Soudani could just be a fan of the latest eccentric release from Nike. Soudani was spotted this weekend sporting the CR7's, which he's modified by adding some red laces, a nice touch from the African footballer.

Alessandro Diamanti (Bologna) Puma v1.11

During his time in the Premier League Alessandro Diamanti sported a combination of Nike Tiempo and CTR football boots, but since returning to Italy he's made the switch into Puma. Diamanti had previously been wearing Puma Kings, but following in the steps of players like Sergio Aguero and Asamoah Gyan, is now wearing the v1.11's.

Michael Gosney (Totton) adidas adipure IV

There was a great tie in the FA Cup, as we saw AFC Totton from the Southern League Premier Division take on Bristol Rovers. It was also good to see players from the lower divisions sporting brand new boots, as despite not seeing a huge player uptake, Gosney was sporting the classic looking black/electricity adidas adipure IV football boots.

Michael Mancienne (Hamburg) Umbro Geometra Pro

Something of a forgotten player, Michael Mancienne is now plying his trade in the Bundesliga with Hamburg. The young defender has played at almost every level for England, and is still on Umbro's books as he is now wearing the latest black/blue Geometra Pro's.

Henrique (Brisbane Roar) Pele Sports 1970

Brazilian Henrique had been wearing Mizuno Morelia football boots, a popular choice amongst South American players. But this season he has switched into the Pele Sports 1970 , which must be a clear acknowledgement of his sporting and national hero.

Seyi Olajengbesi (Aachen) adidas Predator Absolute

It's not often we spot an old boot like a Predator Absolute, and this one's a gem as the player has blacked his pair out. Seyi Olajengbesi was wearing the blacked-out Absolute's playing in defence for Aachen, and it's great to see a boot that originally hit pitches in 2006 still performing in 2011.

Graziano Pelle (Parma) Nike CR Superfly III

A good choice from Pelle who chose to wear the CR Superfly's, which might have helped in the foggy conditions Parma had to play in! Ronaldo's collection of bespoke football boots is growing, and like with Beckham before him, we're seeing an increasing number of players choosing to wear his footwear.

If there are any players and boots you've spotted and think should feature on this page, mail us at: u2us@soccerbible.com putting 'Boot Spotting' in the subject field.
