Global Football Boots Spotting - 19/12/11

Kick-off your week with the latest instalment of SoccerBible boot-spotting. This week there was a Nike takeover, after releasing new colours across all their ranges there were plenty of new Nike boots to be seen on pitches around the globe. See what players and football boots have made the grade this week! Share your thoughts online.

Mikel Arteta (Arsenal) Puma King Finale

In recent weeks we've spotted Arteta in the new PowerCats and the unreleased Puma King SL football boots, although against Manchester City he was back in his trusty white Puma  King Finale football boots. At least that's the impression we got, unless the creative midfielder was in a custom pair of King SL's made to look like his regular footwear.

Yohan Cabaye (Newcastle United) Nike CTR360 Maestri II

Just one of a number of players to wear the new blue Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots. French international Cabaye has been in great form this season, his first season in the Premier League.

Jose Callejon (Real Madrid) adidas adipure IV

Callejon has beaten team-mates Xabi Alonso and Esteban Granero to debuting the latest addition to the adipure family. The black/silver versions are the latest adipure's to be released, and were unveiled a month ago. Callejon progressed through the youth ranks at Real Madrid, but has returned to Los Merengues this year after a 3 year spell with Espanyol.

Johan Djourou (Arsenal) Puma PowerCat 1.12

The white-out Puma PowerCat 1.12 football boots were extremely popular, after being unveiled before the full launch of the new PowerCats. It was great to see Djourou sporting the white versions, which are due to be released as an extremely limited edition boot.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (AC Milan) Nike Mercurial Superfly III

Ibrahimovic was in the brand new purple/silver Mercurial Superfly football boots, and is now one of the lead players to debut a new boot after Cristiano was given his own design. Although looking at the sole-plate, it does raise the question whether Zlatan has also skipped the latest versions, and moved into the next generation of Mercurial football boots.

Miroslav Klose (Lazio) Nike Tiempo Legend IV

A previous T90 Laser wearer, Klose has quite comfortably made the move into the new Tiempo Legend's. A popular boot although we haven't seen too many strikers wearing them, apart from the likes of Javier Hernandez, for whom the new white/red colours would be perfect for.

Robert Lewandowski (Borussia Dortmund) Nike T90 Laser IV

The new grey/pink Nike T90 Laser IV's were on show in Germany this weekend, as striker Lewandowski put in a performance for Borussia Dortmund. The grey/pink's are only available in the synthetic versions, but they are a great looking boot, so be interested to see who opts to wear them.

Marcelo (Real Madrid) Nike Mercurial Vapor VII

Marcelo is a player who clearly wears the Vapor versions of the new Mercurials, but with what appears to be a central spine running through the outsole, could Marcelo also be wearing the new Vapor 8's?

Takayuki Morimoto (Novara) adidas adiPower Predator

Morimoto is a Pred wearer, who we've seen wearing the standard sole-plate out on pitch. Although this weekend sat on the bench for Novara, Morimoto was wearing a new sole-plate which looks to be firm ground, although it's not been seen on the adiPowers before.

Pablo Daniel Osvaldo (Roma) adidas F50 adizero

Could Osvaldo be having a contract dispute with adidas? He's previously worn adipure's before wearing the miCoach adizero's, but for some reason he has blacked them out for the last two weeks. Despite doing a thorough job, it looks like the paint has started to wear off the front, so either Osvaldo will need to re-touch his boots or perhaps he needs to resolve his issues with adidas to get a new pair!

Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) Nike T90 Laser IV

We thought Rooney was sure to wear the new red/white versions of the Nike T90 Laser IV, a perfect match for his Manchester United kit. But he's stuck to his preferred footwear and is wearing the synthetic versions, which are still a great looking boot.

Francesco Totti (Roma) Nike Tiempo Legend III

Totti has been in blacked-out boots for some time now, and despite having the option of the new Tiempo Legend IV, he's sticking with the Legend III's. Totti had been wearing Diadora's before he moved into black-out boots last year, and he's still not showing any brand endorsement, but then a legend like Totti doesn't really need to!
