As expected at the recent star-studded FIFA Ballon d'Or Awards, Lionel Messi stole the show by taking home his third Ballon d'Or Award in as many years. Now it looks like Messi will not just steal the show on-pitch with his electrifying performances, but with his stunning new footwear as well. 
Few players command the right to wear Gold football boots, but if anyone does, it''s Lionel Messi. This week Messi joined the upper echelons of football's elite, becoming only the fourth player to win a hat-trick of Ballon d'Or honours, and joining an illustrious trio of Michel Platini, Johan Cruyff and Marco van Basten.
Record-breaker Leo Messi has had another spectacular year, adding his prestigious third Ballon d'Or to another five titles in 2011 with Barcelona, including the La Liga title, the Champions League, the Spanish Supercopa, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup. Not forgetting to mention the incredible 55 goals in 57 games that Leo netted in a Barca shirt. At just 24 years old Messi is already judged as one of football's all-time greats.
It's yet to be confirmed whether Messi will wear his new Gold/White adidas F50 adizero's competitively, but even if he doesn't they're sure to take pride of place on his mantelpiece as a great trophy piece. More than just a Gold leather upper, these adizero's are adorned with the text 'FIFA Ballon d'Or Player of the Year' and 'Gracias a todos', which translates as 'Thanks to all'. The three consecutive years of 2009, 2010 and 2011 are printed within the adi 3-stripes, and Messi's new superhero 'M' logo features near the heel counter of the boots.
