Global Football Boots Spotting - 13/02/12

Global Football Boots Spotting - 13/02/12

We certainly weren't left short of any talking points after the weekends action! A fascinating weekend of European football served up a number of great boot spots to help kick-start your week. We've scoured all four corners of the globe to bring you the best selection of football boots hitting pitches! Take a look and share your thoughts online, on Twitter and on Facebook.

Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) adidas f50 adizero miCoach

We had a hunch that the latest adizero miCoach colourway might finally be the one to tempt Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema out of his Blue/White/Slime adizero Prime football boots! Although if it weren't for Lionel Messi, we may have seen the France intentional step out in the recent Blue/White/Energy adizero miCoach. Benzema helped Madrid extend their La Liga lead wearing the new Phantom/Electricity/Energyadizero miCoach football boots.

Steven Pienaar (Everton) Puma v1.11

South Africa captain Steven Pienaar is back in blue and showing the Premier League once again just what he's made of! The former Spurs player re-signed for The Toffees and is already showing fans why they loved him in the first place. Pienaar was spotted wearing the new Blue/White/LimePuma v1.11 football boots as he helped his side topple a poor Chelsea side 2-0 at Goodison Park.

Ryo Miyaichi (Bolton Wanderers) Nike Mercurial Vapor VII

Rapid Ryo Miyaichi is already impressing at Bolton after signing on loan from Arsenal in January. The Japanese teenager was in Premier League action for his new club as they took on Wigan Athletic. Miyaichi was spotted wearing his personalised Nike Vapor VII football boots that are sure to leave a number of defenders trailing during his short spell at Bolton.

Alexis Sanchez (Barcelona) Nike Total 90 Strike IV

Tough winter conditions resulted in a number of surprise boot spots during Barcelona's trip to Osasuna. Alexis Sanchez was amongst these, wearing an AG pair of Nike T90 Strike IV football boots to battle the frozen pitch. Pedro was also forced to take the same route, with both players temporarily ditching their Mercurial boots in favour of the more surface-friendly T90.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII

Vapor fans will be desperate for the highly anticipated release of the new Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII. Expected to land in April, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mesut Ozil continue to test Nike's latest speed development under the disguise of their current boots. There was no hiding place for Ronaldo's secret footwear as he netted his sixth hat-trick of the season. As you can see, Cristiano's boots feature the re-constructed outsole design and new upper material that Nike have developed for the Vapor VIII.

Ryan Griffiths (Newcastle Jets) Puma v1.11

The A-League is always worth a scour for any unreleased boots and this week Ryan Griffiths gave us an advanced look at a new Puma v1.11 colourway! The Newcastle Jets winger was spotted wearing the impressive looking Charcoal/White/Peach Puma v1.11 that is expected to drop across Europe next month. Puma's speed silo has been treated to some great colourways so far and from the looks of the things, there's more to come!

Stuart Downing (Liverpool) adidas f50 adizero miCoach

Stuart Downing is always hot on the heels of the latest f50 colourways. The Liverpool winger never takes long to update his footwear and was spotted wearing the Phantom/Electricity/Energyadizero miCoach football boots during his sides controversial clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford that saw Liverpool lose 2-1 to the Premier League champions.

Gerard Pique (Barcelona) Nike CTR360 Trequartista II

Tiempo lead player Gerard Pique tried to get the better of the frozen conditions, wearing a pair of AG Nike CTR360 Trequartista II football boots. Pique was another player who was forced to change his footwear due to the frozen Osasuna pitch that made it difficult for any FG boots. Barcelona saw any small hope of retaining their La Liga title fade further away, after falling to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Osasuna.

Kennedy Mweene (Zambia) Nike Mercurial Superfly III

Zambia keeper Kennedy Mweene helped complete the AFCON fairytale that would see the underdog nation crowned kings of Africa. Wearing his SG Nike Mercurial Superfly III football boots, Mweene coolly found the back of the net from the penalty spot during the shoot-out that saw Zambia overcome tournament favourites Ivory Coast. Congratulations to Zambia!

Franck Ribery (Bayern Munich) Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII

Franck Ribery is another Nike player to be given advanced testing of the Nike Vapor VIII. Despite being a Superfly III look-a-like, the Bayern Munich winger was testing his very own Mercurial Vapor VIII football boots ahead of their April release. It has been a great effort from Nike to kit out their star players in the new design prior to any official unveiling. A lot of work has been invested into the Vapor VIII and expectations remain high!

Luis Suarez (Liverpool) adidas f50 adizero

We couldn't leave him out. Back in action for Liverpool and back in his old adizero boots. Luis Suarez was the centre of Premier League attention as he set the tone for a fiery match at Old Trafford that saw Manchester United triumph 2-1. This was the match of the weekend with the spotlight shining brightly on Suarez and Evra. Amongst the controversy, there was also 90 minutes of football played...

Lucho Gonzales (Porto)
adidas Predator adiPower

Ãlvaro Pereira (Porto)
Puma King SL

Two bonus boot spots come courtesy of JosÉ AraÚjo who drew our attention to the Primeira Liga after Lucho Gonzales was spotted wearing the currently unreleased Slime/Indigo/BlueadiPower Predator football boots. They're coming to SB very soon so stay tuned!

Porto team-mate Alvaro Pereira made the interesting switch from the Puma v1.11 SL to the new Puma King SL, while adding some great customisation to his new boots! It's a switch we expect many more pro's to make with the King SL now rivalling some synthetics on the scales.
