Global Football Boots Spotting - 27/02/12

There's only one way for boot fans to kick-off the week! It was another action-packed weekend of football that has served up a number of great spots! From the Premier League to the Australian A-League and everything in between, check out the players and boots to feature in the latest edition of SoccerBible bootspotting. Share your thoughts online, on Twitter and on Facebook.

Marco Boriello (Juventus) Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII
Marco Borriello's footwear was the star attraction of the weekend's bootspotting. The Juventus striker became the first professional player to put the upcoming Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII football boots into true competitive action! Borriello was wearing a blacked out version of what is set to be the launch colourway of Nike's next Vapor. Despite his best efforts, you could make out the orange colourway that will soon be on the feet of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and co.

Gareth Bale (Tottenham) adidas f50 adizero miCoach
Gareth Bale remains one of the highest profile f50 players to wear the synthetic versions of the adizero miCoach. The Tottenham winger's boots were in the headlines once more as he earned his side a controversial first half penalty at the Emirates Stadium. The new Blue/White/Energy adizero football boots have been adopted by a strong number of f50 pro's and were one of the best looking boots on show in the capital as Arsenal beat their North London rivals 5-2.

Ryan Giggs (Manchester United) Reebok
Described by Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United's greatest player of all time alongside Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs struck a last-minute winner against Norwich on his 900th appearance for the club, ensuring United keep the pressure on league leaders Manchester City. Giggs, who was wearing a suitably classy pair of White/Gold leather Reebok boots, continues to break records at Manchester United as he hit another milestone.

Henrique (Brisbane Roar) Pele Trinity 3E
It's certainly not every week we get a glimpse of the ultra-light 170g Pele Sports Trinity 3E in action! Far from the reaches of  European football, Brisbane Roar striker Henrique Andrade Silva was the man responsible for this rare spot as he put one of football's most unique soccer shoes through 90 minutes as his side took on the Perth Glory.

Osama Malik (Adelaide United) Nike Tiempo Legend IV
What a difference a pair of laces can make. Adelaide United midfielder Osama Malik transformed his White/Red Nike Tiempo Legend IV football boots with a simple pair of red laces during his sides A-League match up with the Newcastle Jets. Formerly a CTR wearer, Malik also used the same red laces on his previous pair of White/BlueNike Legend IV football boots.

Hirofumi Moriyasu (Sydney FC) Mizuno Morelia Neo
The Mizuno Morelia Neo is always a boot we look out for! This week it was Sydney FC midfielder Hirofumi Noriyasu who caught our eye wearing the great looking White/Black/Red Mizuno Neo football boots during his sides A-League clash with Wellington Phoenix. The Neo is certainly gathering momentum across the world and we're excited to see more of the boot throughout Europe and in the Premier League.

Edin Dzeko (Manchester City) adidas Predator adiPower
Manchester City brushed aside Blackburn at the weekend, seeing their hopes of claiming the Premier League title move one game closer. Edin Dzeko was on the score sheet wearing his Slime/Indigo/BlueadiPower Predator football boots as City claimed a 3-0 win with his strike partner Sergio Aguero also netting. It was Dzeko's first game in the new Predator colourway after a long stint in the White/Blue/Warning adiPower.

Darren Bent (Aston Villa) Umbro Speciali III
It took a little while, but Darren Bent has finally decided to update his Umbro footwear. The Aston Villa striker was spotted wearing the new Umbro Speciali III football boots during his sides Premier League clash with Wigan. Umbro had recently recognised Bent's 100 goal landmark with a limited edition pair of yellow Speciali R boots. His less garish Speciali III boots are more suited to the Villa home strip and will be a better match with England's new attire!

Lukas Podolski (Koeln) adidas f50 adizero miCoach
You can always count on Lukas Podolski to wear the latest pair of adizero football boots! The German international was spotted wearing a synthetic pair of the recently released Phantom/Electricity/Energyf50 adizero football boots during his sides match with Bayer Leverkusen. Podolski, alongside Karim Benzema and Arjen Robben is one of the colourways lead professionals as adidas look to split player support between both this and the Blue/White/Energy boot.

There's nothing particularly special about Dirk Kuyts Black/WarningadiPower Predator football boots that the Dutchman wore during Liverpool's epic Carling Cup victory at the weekend. But we thought they'd be worth a shout, considering England's upcoming friendly with Holland on Wednesday! After the unveiling of Holland's new Black/Orange away strip, we can't wait to see how Dirk's boots look with his new international uniform!

Carl Jenkinson (Arsenal) adidas adizero RS7
>Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson returned to action for the Gunners during their 5-2 romp of Tottenham Hotspur. Interestingly, Jenkinson came off the bench wearing a pair of White/Red adizero RS7 Pro Rugby boots. Since joining Arsenal last summer, the wing-back has worn a range of boots including the Umbro Stealth II Pro, Umbro Speciali R and most recently the adidas f50 adizero.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto (Tottenham) adidas f50 adizero miCoach
In the world of Benoit Assou-Ekotto, wearing odd boots has become the norm. The Tottenham full back was spotted wearing a combination of synthetic and leather adizero miCoach football boots during the North London Derby at the weekend. What began as a result from one of his adiPower boots splitting, Ekotto's odd-boot look has become recognised across Europe. Pairing two different colourways and upper materials really is something else!
