Cristiano Ronaldo vs Rafa Nadal - Mercurial Vapor VIII

Cristiano Ronaldo vs Rafa Nadal - Mercurial Vapor VIII

After keeping us waiting, Nike have revealed Rafa's mystery opponent! Two of the world s best athletes and two of Nike's most perennial figures, Cristiano Ronaldo and Rafa Nadal, come together in a new film to showcase the explosive speed and traction of the new Vapor VIII. It's Rafa v Ronnie - Tennis v Football!

The Portuguese ace joined the Spaniard for Nike's latest viral in which they serve up a modified form of tennis-ball for our entertainment - with the new Mercurial Vapor VIII at the centre of the action!  It's a ''battle of skill, style and explosive speed''.

The tennis and football legends trade serves and kicks across the net with a tennis ball, as Ronaldo shows off his silky footwork laced up in the new Mercurial Vapor VIII football boots on the grass court. Nadal soon thunders a serve cross court which is half volleyed straight back by Ronaldo and the game is on.

The World No. 2 has got skills! As the competition heated up Nadal was given his first taste of the Mercurial Vapor VIII, showing his Madrid pal that he's got the football tekkers to match, firing some fearsome volleys across the net! As much as we would have liked to see it, giving Ronaldo a tennis racket might have been asking for too much!

The cross-sport ad is a new approach from Nike. The rather slick CGI is convincing, but will no doubt be meticulously picked apart by internet cynics! For us, it's a refreshingly humorous ad that showcases the personalities of both Nike athletes - enjoy!

Stay tuned to SoccerBible for a behind-the-scenes look at how the viral was made and Nadal's post-match interview with Cristiano Ronaldo! Share your thoughts on Nike's latest ad and join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
