Global Football Boots Spotting - 28/05/12

Global Football Boots Spotting - 28/05/12

The football world is getting ready for the 2012 European Championships. So that means some international friendlies to cast our bootspotting eyes over! The domestic season may be over, but there's never a shortage of football boots on show across the globe. Take a look at the latest spots to feature.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII Clash

Cristiano Ronaldo will be hoping he's involved in some more exciting matches than his sides goalless draw against Macedonia. Ronaldo gave his first performance wearing the new White/Red Nike Vapor VIII Clash football boots and despite firing a number of long range efforts, couldn't find the back of the net. More goals in Euro 2012 please!

Cesc Fabregas (Barcelona) Puma PowerCat 1.12

Cesc Fabregas gave his new Puma PowerCat 1.12 SL football boots a winning debut, after Barcelona secured their third trophy of the season. The Spaniard will head to Euro 2012 as one of Puma's lead athletes, hoping to help Spain retain their international crown.

Oliver Giroud (France) Puma evoSPEED 1

Montpellier and France striker Olive Giroud enjoyed a spectacular 11/12 season in Ligue 1 wearing both the Puma King Finale and v1.11. Now it looks as if Giroud will head to Euro 2012 wearing the Puma evoSPEED 1, after giving the boots a run out during France's friendly match against Iceland.

Steven Gerrard (England) adidas Predator LZ

England captain Steven Gerrard is one of the few modern day players who is associated with wearing only black boots. But now it looks as if the Liverpool veteran has succumbed to the brightly coloured world of modern football boots. Gerrard was spotted wearing the Blue/White/Red  Predator LZ during England match against Norway.

Leandro Damiao (Brazil) adidas f50 adizero

Brazil continued their Olympic 2012 preparations with a friendly match against Denmark. One of the stand out spots was Leandro Damio's new White/Lime/Onix adizero micoach football boots. The colourway isn't expected to get much game time at the European Championships, with adidas giving European player support to the Red/White/Blue design.

Filip Duricic (Serbia) adidas Predator adiPower

Few things grab our attention on a football pitch like a black-out football boot! Serbia's Filip Duricic was spotted wearing the super classy black-out adidas Predator adiPower boots during his sides 2-0 defeat to Spain. He might have to wait a little longer for adidas to release a black-out Predator LZ!

Will Ferrell (Soccer Aid - Rest of the World) Umbro Speciali III

It's not every day Will Ferrell gets featured on SoccerBible bootspotting. The Anchorman star was in action for Soccer Aid, representing the Rest of the World wearing a pair of Umbro Speciali III football boots. He was billed as his sides 'secret weapon', but the Hollywood funnyman limped off the pitch with a leg injury as his side lost 3-1 to England.

Mario Goetze  (Germany) Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII

Despite training in the Mercurial Vapor VIII Clash football boots, German youngster Mario Goetze looks to be saving his new footwear for the European Championships. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder stepped out in his familiar and unmissable Mango Vapor VIII boots as Germany took on Switzerland.

Phil Jones (England) Puma PowerCat 1.12

Phil Jones was straight into his new PowerCat 1.12 SL football boots last week, after training and playing in his new boots during England friendly match against Norway. The Manchester United midfielder has seen his profile rise since moving to the Premier League giants and is a great long term capture for Puma.

Silvestre Varela (Portugal) Puma evoSPEED 1

The new Puma evoSPEED football boots were a great match for the new Nike Portugal home strip, as Silvestre Varela was spotted wearing Puma's redesigned speed boot. With a strong attacking line-up for the European Championships, they could be one of the stand out boots of the tournament.

Lionel Messi (Barcelona) adidas f50 adizero mICoach

Lionel Messi gave Pep Guardiola the perfect send off at the weekend, scoring one goal in his new adidas f50 adizero miCoach football boots during Barcelona's 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao. It seems an odd time for adidas to be giving their lead player a colour update, with a summer vacation now in store for Messi. We should see more of them in Barca's 12/13 pre-season.

Xabi Alonso (Spain) adidas Predator LZ

Xabi Alonso still hasn't played a match in the Predator LZ (a non-blacked out one anyway!) Now that he's finally gotten his hands on a pair of the more traditional Red/White/Black colourway, this could be about to change! After all, the Spanish midfielder and former adiPure wearer was never expected to wear Blue/White/Red colourway was he!
