Euro 2012 - Top Scoring Football Boots

Euro 2012 - Top Scoring Football Boots

Where there once was football a void fills the gap, in wait of the Olympics and the domestic season to kick-off! That doesn't mean we can't look back on the summer that was and marvel at Euro 2012, more importantly the football boots that came out to play...

Throughout the Euro 2012 tournament, we kept a count of the football boots worn by the players scoring the goals. The back of the net was found on more than 70 occasions with some particularly memorable goals, who can forget Ibrahimovic's technically perfect strike or Andy Carroll's towering header?

One boot in particular stood out at the tournament, as the Nike Mercurial Vapor Clash football boots were worn by players contributing no less than 20 goals, double the nearest boot rival! Thanks to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mesut Ozil and Juan Mata adding to the goal tally.

It was a good tournament all round for the Nike Clash Collection, which claimed four of the top five positions in the scoring charts and also the Golden Boot. Thanks to a combination of Fernando Torres' goals, assists and minutes on the pitch beating Mario Gomez, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mario Balotelli, Mario Mandzukic and Alan Dzagoev to the award.

As for the various brands, PUMA and Mizuno can be proud of respectable performances from the evoSPEED and Morelia Neo. For adidas the Predator LZ might not have ranked highly on the score chart, but they were the boots worn by midfield maestro Xavi, whilst the F50 adizero grabbed the winning headlines in the final thanks to Jordi Alba and David Silva.

After an exciting tournament we'd love to hear your opinions on Euro 2012, which football boots and players impressed you the most? Have your say and join the conversation online.
