Global Football Boots Spotting - 10/09/12

Global Football Boots Spotting - 10/09/12

The international break might have put an unwelcome halt on the 12/13 season, but it has provided us with a strong selection of boot spots from around the globe! There was another appearance for the Nike GS, while the Puma evoSpeed Cedella Marley was finally put into action...on the feet of a rugby player!

Francois Hougaard (South Africa) Puma evoSpeed CM

Credit to Rowan Birch who brought our attention to South African rugby player Francois Hougaard wearing the Puma evoSpeed Cedella Marley boots! A quick look back at Hougaard's boot history shows that he's no stranger to football boots, having previously worn the Nike Vapor VIII and CTR360 Maestri II.

Nathaniel Chalobah (England U19) Puma evoSpeed

England and Chelsea youngster Nathaniel Chalobah could be an exciting prospect for club and country. After wearing the f50 adizero throughout the 11/12 season, Chalobah has kicked off this campaign in the Puma evoSpeed. Most recently, the defender was spotted wearing the Black/White/Orange colourway as England U19's took on Germany in an international friendly.

Mesut Ozil (Germany) adidas f50 adizero miCoach

Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil must be on the verge of making an official move to adidas. The German international was spotted wearing the White/White/Blue f50 adizero miCoach football boots in Germany's World Cup qualifying match with Faroe Islands. If Ozil sticks with the f50 range, could he become one of adidas' lead faces for the new adizero line this year?

Miller BolaÑos (Chivas USA) Nike Mercurial Superfly II Safari

Not sure what to make of this. Covering up a brands logo is usually a sign of contract negotiations but we can't imagine this being the case with Chivas USA midfielder Miller BolaÑos. It could be by request of the club, who are sponsored by adidas or an MLS league sanction. Or maybe he just doesn't like the colour orange!

Luis Ramirez (Peru) adidas f50 adizero miCoach

Rewind a couple of months and Luis Ramirez was wearing the adidas Predator LZ. Now the Peru international and Corinthians midfielder is wearing the f50 adizero miCoach. While Lionel Messi has noticeably been the only high profile adidas player to wear the Silver/Orange colourway, Ramirez matched him by wearing the same boots during Peru's World Cup qualifying match with Venezuela.

Antonio Valencia (Ecuador) Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII

Manchester United's Antonio Valencia likes to keep it simple when it comes to the colourways of his football boots. After kicking off the 12/13 season wearing the Nike Tiempo Legend IV, the Ecuadorian and pacey winger has switched to the Mercurial Vapor VIII. He was seen training in the Seaweed/Volt colourway during the international break.

Kader Keita (Ivory Coast) adidas Predator LZ SL

Football boots don't come more visible than the Electricity/Black/Infrared adidas Predator LZ SL. The Ivory Coast midfielder is clearly a fan of the Predator LZ SL line - he was spotted wearing the alternative Black/Electricity/Infrared colourway last month! In a double spot, Senegal's Jacques Doudou Faty was seen wearing a custom pair of Red/White adiPure 11Pro football boots.

Mohamed Ahmad (UAE) Nike GS

Another professional who couldn't resist the lure of the Nike GS! Mohamed Ahmad - who wore the original Nike Mercurial Superfly - during the 2012 Olympic Games, was spotted wearing the limited edition Nike GS football boots during his sides international friendly match with Japan. With only 2012 pairs made worldwide, we wonder how many more professionals managed to land a pair in time!

Neymar (Brazil) Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII

Neymar might have been the poster boy for the Nike GS, but the Brazilian superstar has switched back to the standard Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII football boots following the conclusion of The Games. Neymar was spotted wearing the Clash colourway while on international duty with Brazil - a popular colourway that many of Nike's top athletes are continuing to wear.

Marko Livaja (Inter Milan) adidas Predator LZ DB

Inter Milan striker Marko Livaja has experimented with a number of football boots this year. The young Croatian began the year wearing the Nike Mercurial Superfly II before switching to the CTR360 Maestri III. Now Livaja has switched brands altogether, stepping out in the adidas Predator LZ DB for Inter Milan's Supercoppa Primavera match against AS Roma.
