Global Football Boots Spotting - 17/09/12

To the relief and satisfaction of every football fan, league football returned to our screens at the weekend. With it brought a host of new football boots and surprise sightings. See who has made the list week in our best selection of boot spots from around the globe.

Michael Owen (Stoke) Umbro Speciali III

Michael Owen made the briefest of debuts for his new club Stoke City against Manchester City. The former Manchester United striker appeared as a last minute substitute wearing his trusted Umbro Speciali football boots. Stoke held the Premier League Champions to a 1-1 draw at the Britannia Stadium.

Lee Nowak (Huddersfield) Nike CTR360 Trequartista III iD

Huddersfield striker Lee Nowak has been spending some time in the Nike iD studio and landed on a great looking colour combo with these CTR360 Trequartista III boots. Nike only offer the lower tier Trequartista on their iD service - a boot that offers similar properties to the Maestri but without ACC technology.

Dimitar Berbatov (Fulham) adidas Predator LZ

Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov marked his home debut with two goals including a superbly taking curler wearing his adidas Predator LZ football boots. Fulham saw off a disappointing West Brom 3-0 and are already getting their rewards for the deadline day transfer of Berbatov. We can see Fulham's new no.9 netting a lot more this season!

Aaron Lennon (Tottenham) Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII

Tottenham's first appearance wearing their new Under Armour third kit gave the North London side their first Premier League win of the season. Tottenham speedsters Aaron Lennon and Jermaine Defoe contributed to the sides 3-1 away win against Reading with the adizero wearer bagging an impressive brace.

James McClean (Sunderland) adidas f50 adizero miCoach

We love finding footballers who are as fanatical about boots as we are. James McClean is obviously one of those - he's going to keep us on our toes this season! One week after making a surprise performance wearing the Nike GS, the Republic of Ireland international took to the field wearing the adidas f50 adizero miCoach Graphic colourway. What will it be next week?!

Maya Yoshida (Southampton) Mizuno Wave Ignitus II

Mizuno have been quiet this summer, with the exception of the Morelia Neo. One boot that has flown under the radar is the Red/Black Wave Ignitus II. The boots were in Premier League action at the weekend during Southampton's 6-1 defeat to Arsenal. In a positive move for Mizuno, new signing and Japanese international Maya Yoshida has been wearing the boots since his arrival to England.

Scott Wiseman (Barnsley) Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII iD

The Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII isn't your typical defenders boot, especially when you consider some of the colourways. Barnsley defender Scott Wiseman has been playing in a slick looking pair of black-out Nike iD Mercurials for a number of weeks now - many peoples perfect boot, yet something Nike are still to release!

Eder Citadin Martins (Sampdoria) Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII

When it comes to unreleased and future colourways, there's always one relatively unknown player who manages to somehow jump the gun! Sampdoria striker Eder Citadin Martins has given an early debut to Nike's next Mercurial colourway scheduled to land later this month. They're certainly an eye-popping follow up to the current Seaweed/Volt/Red design.

Gareth Bale (Tottenham) adidas f50 adizero miCoach

Gareth Bale couldn't have asked for a better adizero colourway to match Tottenham's third kit. Bale found the back of the net in Tottenham's 3-1 win over Reading and is one of the only high profile players to wear the Black/Silver/Lime design released back in June. Can you think of a better boot/kit combo?

Mesut Ozil (Real Madrid) adidas f50 adizero miCoach

Each week we have one eye on Mesut Ozil. From the looks of things, no contract has been agreed with adidas yet. The Real Madrid midfielder continued to wear the white-out f50 adizero in his sides 1-0 defeat to Sevilla. It's not yet known which adidas silo Ozil will commit to, but with a new f50 boot pencilled in for later this year, we suspect adidas will have big plans to make him one of the adizero lead faces.
