Danny Welbeck In Nike Return With Mercurial Vapor VIII

Danny Welbeck In Nike Return With Mercurial Vapor VIII

Usually at this stage of the season players have settled on which football boots they will wear for the campaign ahead. But Manchester United and England striker Danny Welbeck isn't making easy work of the decision!

Welbeck has worn four different boots since the beginning of the 2012/13 season. The adidas Predator LZ, T90 Laser IV, f50 adizero and Mercurial Vapor VIII. In the strikers latest move, the pendulum has swung in favour of Nike ahead of rivals adidas.

Welbeck started the season wearing the Nike T90 Laser IV, but alarm bells began to ring for the American brand when he started to train in the Predator LZ and f50 adizero - the striker used England's World Cup qualifier against Poland to fully test adidas' speed boot.

After netting his first club goal of the season in Manchester United's 4-2 defeat of Stoke City wearing the Mercurial Vapor VIII, Welbeck will surely be tempted to commit to the Nike speed boots and maintain his status as a Nike player.

A move into the Mercurial line will be welcomed by Nike - Man United have lacked a high profile Vapor player since the days of Cristiano Ronaldo. There is nothing to say Welbeck has made up his mind. If his latest move is permanent, Nike will breath a sigh of relief!

It's another tug-of-war battle between Nike and adidas. Which boots would you like to see Welbeck commit to? Let us know. Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
