Gerrard 100 Caps - New Predator LZ

Gerrard 100 Caps - New Predator LZ

England captain Steven Gerrard will celebrate winning his 100th cap wearing these special commemorative pair of Predator LZ football boots. You might also notice Gerrard will be debuting a brand new colourway, so here's an exclusive look at a boot not intended for release until late November.

Once again SoccerBible is in the fortunate position to have had a close-up look at Gerrard's football boots, and share our exclusive photography of the latest colour addition to the Predator LZ range. A Black/Red/White colour combination, is arguably a more fitting and classy boot for Gerrard to wear on this momentous occasion, when you consider these are the classic colours he's worn for the majority of his playing career.

All eyes will be on Steven Gerrard as he leads the England team out in Stockholm to face Sweden, to follow in the footsteps of Peter Shilton, David Beckham, Bobby Moore, Sir Bobby Charlton and Billy Wright, as England players to reach 100 caps for the Three Lions.

Gerrard's England career began in 2000, when he made his debut in a 2-0 victory over Ukraine at Wembley. For that game Gerrard was wearing a Black/Red/White pair of adidas Predator Precision football boots, the same boots he was wearing when he scored his first international goal in the famous 5-1 victory over Germany.

After a brief stint in the Blue launch Predator LZ's, we imagine Steven Gerrard will feel a lot more comfortable wearing a classic Black/Red/White combination. This special commemorative pair have been personalised with gold type to celebrate the occasion, and we expect will take pride of place in his boot collection.

Getting a hands-on look at the boots, we're able to see Gerrard's customised fit. Interestingly he wears size 9.25 for both his left and right foot, and it's a nice touch adidas have added to the label under the tongue and the box. On the box we also notice adidas refer to Gerrard's boots as "adipower Predator LZ"; we're not sure is the official moniker, as we were under the impression the term "adipower" had been dropped.

In an exception to the norm and a fitting move by adidas, Gerrard will be the only player to wear the new Black/Red/White colour, debuting the boots around a week ahead of scheduled launch. Arguably the classiest release for the Predator LZ, we're sure many fans will feel these should have been a launch edition.
