Are they genuine rivals, or is it all media hype and there's genuine friendship and banter between the two? In this promo advertisement, we're led to believe it's the latter as Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo text each other ahead of their next encounter.
Both players are in high spirits and full of confidence after record breaking years, which of course comes through in their text conversation. Their next encounter will be on 3rd March, when the Bernabeu hosts the next Clasico, but with such hype around the players at the moment the countdown has already begun.
Of course, we don't want to be a spoilsport, but there is an element of realism needed here. Though we see the hands texting and facial expressions, the two are never connected and the likelihood is we are not seeing Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo texting each other, moreover the date on the phones of December 5th is quite curious.
We'd love to think Leo and Cristiano text each other, but after Messi's recent snub at the Ballon d'Or awards and such an intense rivalry on the pitch between clubs, it's probably fair to say they have a mutual professional respect for each other.
