Edd Hames' Insights SKINS

Edd Hames' Insights SKINS

In first-layer garment development, Skins are highly respected for their scientific work to improve performance by increasing blood flow to working muscles. We recently caught up with UK Product Manager Edd Hames to hear the story.

To describe what many would essentially call abase-layer, as more like a flight sock or surgical stocking, gives an insight that Skins take a different approach to developing their products.

The evolution and scientific development of the Skins' products, is to keep an athlete's body primed. By enhancing the flow of oxygenated blood to the muscles, clearing through metabolic waste and clearing lactic acid at a higher rate.

There is a future within sports and football for base-layer products to enhance performance, and the Skins' story is one that conveys a passion to deliver enhanced performance to athletes. Accepting Skins can't work on the same budget as Nike or adidas - or have the athletes like Wayne Rooney or Steven Gerrard to promote their product - there's credit deserved for utilising their budget to scientifically test and develop what compression is doing in motion.

A discussion to heighten knowledge on the development behind a first-layer garment, let us know what you think of Edd Hames' insight into Skins, and share with us your thoughts and experience of base-layer garments. Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
