Global Football Boots Spotting - 04/02/13

Global Football Boots Spotting - 04/02/13

Amongst the African Cup of Nations and domestic football it was another great week boot spotting, with spots from Africa, Europe and Australia, we've rounded up a selection of the best boots to catch our eye this past weekend...

Dino Kresinger (Western Sydney Wanderers) adidas adiPURE SL

Western Sydney Wanderes no.9 Dino Kresinger was spotted wearing his adidas adiPURE SL football boots during his sides A-League clash with Adelaide United. The Croatian had previously been wearing the f50 adizero, but changed things up for his latest match as the Wanderes continue to climb the A-League ladder.

Thalami Serero (South Africa) Nike iD Mercurial Vapor VIII

South Africa midfielder Serero's customised Nike Vapor VIII's might not be the best iD creation we've ever seen, but even so were one of the weekend's stand out boots. They feature a black upper with a green purple swoosh combo. Thalami Serero was in AfCoN quarter final action with his side taking on Mali.

Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast) Nike Mercurial Vapor IX

Didier Drogba's Ivory Coast dream came to and end this past weekend as his side were knocked out of the tournament by Nigeria, losing 2-1 in the quarter final. The former Chelsea striker gave us another look at his Sunset Nike Vapor IX boots, but it was a lackluster tournament for the 34-year-old who scored just once in the team's final group game.

Eli Babalj (Melbourne Heart) Nike Mercurial Vapor IX

The Platinum Vapor IX colourway is beginning to creed onto pitches. They haven't gained much ground in Europe yet, but over in the Australian A-League, Melbourne Heart striker Eli Babalj is giving us a good look at the boots in action. Nike are planning to give the Platinum boots more of a push in Europe, with Cristiano Ronaldo lined up to wear them this month.

Danquah-Andomanh Albert (Ghana) PUMA evoSPEED Ducati

It's always great when we uncover a professional who's a serious boot fan and Bristol City and Ghana striker Danquah Albert might be one of PUMA's biggest fans! PUMA's limited edition collaboration boots rarely make it onto the professional scene, but now Danquah Albert has worn both the evoSPEED Ducati AND the v1.815 Ferrari.

Andy Carroll (West Ham) Umbro Speciali IV

Along with Joe Hart, Andy Carroll remains one of the only recognised faces to still be wearing Umbro after the brand experienced a mass exodus of players. The West Ham striker returned to first team action wearing the new white/silver/black Umbro Speciali IV football boots, scoring the games only goal.

Luka Modric (Real Madrid) Nike Mercurial Vapor IX

Luka Modirc isn't enjoying the best of starts to his Real Madrid career. His side slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Granada thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo own goal - the first of his career. Despite the Vapor not being the typical boot choice for a CM, Modirc has been a long-term wearer of the Mercurial silo.

Ouattara Issouf (Burkina Faso) Nike GS II

The Nike GS II was one of our favourite boots from 2012, and we still feel like they're worth recognising! Burkina Faso reached the semi-final of the African Cup of Nations, beating Togo 1-0. It was winger Ouattara Issouf who caught our eye, wearing the Nike GS II. Burkina Faso will now meet Ghana in the semi-final on Wednesday.

Stuart Pearce (England) Umbro SX Valor

The England squad may be reporting for duty wearing the latest elite footwear, but it seems the same can't be said for the staff. We're unsure whether Pearce has been offered a new pair of boots, as Roy Hodgson has, but it's seems the England icon is more than happy to rock an old pair of SX Valor boots.

Gakpe Serge Selom (Togo) Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII Custom

We've heard of custom footwear for your nation, but Selom of Togo has taken it to a new level with his Vapor VIII's. The Nike Swoosh has been decorated with the national flag, and has the addition of the 'Sparrow Hawk'. They're not quite as blingin', but must be up there with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's diamond encrusted boots.
