Global Football Boots Spotting - 18/02/13

Here's an eclectic bunch of boots for our latest edition of Boot Spotting. From Vapor IV through to custom miadidas boots, we've a random assortment stretching from as far afield as Europe to the United States. Boot choice is down to the individual, so let us know what you think of the player selections...

Pablo Alvarez (Catania) adidas F50 adizero miadidas

Not massively inventive, but Alvarez is clearly a man who has a particular style when it comes to footwear. The Catania man has exchanged his older generation White/Blue adizero's for...the latest edition of the adizero, again in a White/Blue colour combination.

Henri Lansbury (Nottingham Forest) adidas Predator LZ

Henri Lansbury is a player we've featured in boot spotting on a number of occasions before, as he was quite often sighted wearing Beckham Preds. However, he's gone in the opposite direction with his boot choice, by opting to sport a blacked-out pair of the Predator LZ.

Cesc Fabregas (Barcelona) PUMA PowerCat 1.12

The latest addition to the PowerCat range was only unveiled last week, but already Cesc is sporting the look playing for Barcelona. The White/Ocean/Orange combination promises a refreshing look on-field, and it has to be said the boots certainly look light and classy.

Cody Ellison (Charleston Battery) adidas adizero RS7

You wouldn't expect to see a rugby boot on the hard ground soccer pitches of the United States, but that is exactly what Cody Ellison of Charleston Battery was wearing this weekend. The look is an understandable personal preference, and to be fair the sole-unit does allow for football performance as the studs are not overly long.

Jonathan Douglas (Brentford) Pantofola d'Oro Lazzarini

Amongst the glitz of the FA Cup, with Chelsea's Premier League stars wearing the latest bright adidas and Nike football boots, was Brentford captain Jonathan Douglas sporting a classy Black pair of Pantofola d'Oro Lazzarini's. Recognisable through the all-over leather, the boot stitching and laces islets; a nice stylish contrasting choice from Douglas.

Sergio Almiron (Catania) Lotto?

Is there a new Lotto speed boot on the horizon? Just a number of weeks ago Almiron was wearing the Zhero Gravity II boots, but it appears he is trialling a very different boot here. The upper appears sleek and synthetic, suggesting a potential new speed incarnation.

Peter Clarke (Huddersfield Town) adidas Predator LZ miadidas

Miadidas has opened the door for boot fans to design and create their own desirable football boots. Quite often, what the players are designing is in contrast to what the brands are releasing. As testament, Peter Clarke's Preds are certainly a lot more subtle and classy than the recent colour combinations we've seen from adidas.

Simone Missoroli (Sassuolo Calcio) Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly III

We can't imagine there are too many professional players still rocking the Volt Mercurial Vapor Superfly III football boots; and indeed we had to scour Italy's Serie B to find Simone Missoroli. We're not quite sure of the reasoning behind his boot choice - as there are no colour tie-ins with his kit - so perhaps Missoroli just wants to wear the most eye-catching boots he can find!

Luke Mulholland (Tampa Bay Rowdies) adidas F50 adizero Graphic

The Graphic adizero landed in August last year, but we never saw a large player uptake as adidas instead pushed their players into the Silver/Red combination. It's good to see then, Luke Mulholland of the Tampa Bay Rowdies purchase and wear his own pair, another great example of personal player choice.

Taylor Mueller (Charleston Battery) Nike Mercurial Vapor IV

Get your old kicks out! Taylor Mueller was sporting an old favourite from the Vapor IV range. We have a couple of die-hard Vapor IV fans in the SB office, and along with the Citron and Pink Rosa, the White/Blue is a popular edition. We wonder what would be the player uptake if Nike decided to re-release a number of their old boots?!

If there are any players boots that you've spotted and think we should feature, mail us at: u2us@soccerbible.com putting 'Boot Spotting' in the subject field.
