SoccerBible Meets Gregory van der Wiel

There's a footballing revolution underway in France, with some of the games best players joining the impressive roster at Paris St Germain. It's in this cultural mix alongside big iconic personalities like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Beckham, we caught up with young Dutch star Gregory Van Der Wiel for a conversation on style, sneakers, speed and Mercurial Vapor.

Touted as one of Europe's best young full-backs, before agreeing to join PSG the former Ajax man was linked to a host of clubs including Milan, Chelsea and Arsenal. But sit down with the man and you find a regular 25-year-old, who takes care of his style, is a fan of his sneakers and tattoo's.

A fast attacking full-back, Gregory has never imagined anything other than being a footballer. At a younger age he played in an attacking position, yet despite switching positions and also switching boot brands, Van Der Wiel has been a long-term speed boot wearer. Currently sporting the Vapor IX's, we got to hear which Vapor is Gregory's favourite and more importantly why the shoe is suited to his game.

SoccerBible caught up with Van Der Wiel at the recent Nike Mercurial Vapor IX launch event in Paris, you can check out our full coverage and video of the event here.
