Around The Office: Di Canio Pantofola d'Oro Piceno

It's fair to say that Paolo Di Canio is one of football's biggest personalities. There was never a dull moment in his playing career. Di Canio was a unique footballer, one that played with a certain elegance and character and this was echoed by his choice of footwear.

After watching the new Sunderland boss on the touchline at Newcastle it's clear that the feisty Italian remains as passionate as ever about the game, but success isn t the only thing that Paolo is passionate about. In his playing days Di Canio was a big fan of Pantofola d'Oro and we've been lucky enough to get a pair of Pantofola d'Oro Piceno boots signed by the ex-Lazio West Ham striker.

We caught up with Paolo when he was at the helm of Swindon Town and he was full of admiration for his fellow countrymen at Pantofola d'Oro. They are fantastic Italian boots. When I was a player, they made boots especially for me. A green and white pair with number 7 when I was at Celtic, and a blue and white pair with number 11 at Sheffield Wednesday.

We've got a massive respect for Pantofola d'Oro and any player that's got the individuality to step away from some of the bigger brands. Di Canio's signed Piceno boots are a unique piece of memorabilia that proudly hold their own on the SoccerBible HQ wall of fame!
